The Elliott Bay Book Company: what do users think?

Richie Gowin: They sell mostly new, not used books. Be ready for regular priced books. The selection is great, all highlighted with plenty of personal recommendations scattered about. It’s nice and wide open with tall ceilings, so you feel like you have room to breathe. There’s definitely a reason it’s one of the top bookstores.

Will Oberst: Went to a book release party of a scifi novel base on of east asia had won the space race. Live music by the author, a great host, and home made food by the author's mom was an experience and a half.

Barrett Brooks: Delightful local bookshop with a coffee shop and huge book selection

Heejin Hwang: I was impressed by the handwritten recommendations for each recommended book. The bookstore has a nice atmosphere, so it's a great place to stop by. Just a souvenir? It was a pity that there wasn't much stationery.

Ashley Cates: Such great selection on every topic you can imagine!

Mick Dees (nomad.mick): Really great bookstore! So many books and well organized, and there’s a nice cafe inside.

Parriss Jones: Love this place!

Laetitia (Lee): adventure.

Ashley Castana: Great place for finding just about any book you need. Love the vibes

FriendShop in Seattle Central Library: what do users think?

Aimee Alexander: AWESOME customer service and knowledge about Seattle's history! Great things to buy! From greeting cards and trinkets to bags, books, EVEN JEWELRY! PLUS, it is RIGHT NEXT to the LIBRARY'S very own COFFEE SHOP... and if the coffee is from Seattle, you know it's gonna be GOOD!👍

Michelle Sanchez: . Most merchandise is book/reading themed and not Seattle themed. There's also a few merch items based on the central library.

Amelia: Really sweet little shop inside the library. Stopped in for a couple of cards and walked out with the cards and some books as well. Great prices and fantastic quality on the used books.

Nicholas Tamarkin: Nancy is the best! She always makes me feel welcome. If you’re looking for a great new novel, collection of plays, cookbooks - literally anything - she’ll give you a big smile and point you to the perfect gift, author, or piece of the past. She’s the best part of the library!

Susan F.: I love shopping at the FriendShop, it is full of the cutest, most unique items. Since they are obviously closed I was thrilled to find lots of online options. Last week I purchased one of the boxed sets they offer, the Cat box set. I asked if it was possible to change out one item and Lisa, the manager, could not have been more helpful. Eager for the next birthday a friend has so I can gift some of the spectacular items in this set. Thank you FriendShop!

jong: I wasn't able to visit on time, but the library is really nice. There were items for sale in every corner, so I was able to look around even when it was closed.

W B: Nice library

Maria Reidell: they have a big selection of cute, cool, book related stuff.Friendliest staff ever.Repeat customer discount,15% off everything the 1st Thursday of every month, great card selection,USED BOOKS FOR $1 or $2 dlls!!! ♡

Rona Zevin: for $20 a year and get a 15% discount at the shop. Wonderful shop for all things library, including books for $1-$3, Seattle stuff, bags, jewelry, and most of all cards. On the 5th Ave side of the Library.

Amazon Books: what do users think?

Brian Rowe: I like books

3n71qu3 m: They not only sell books but electronics, got some new earphones with prime discount!

Daniel M: I went in this store a few days ago with an elderly friend of mine. The staff are always waiting by the door to help you. The first guy was friendly, and trying to be helpful but was going a little too fast for my friend, who got frustrated. My friend asked for the manager and the manager was super perfect. She listened and with extraordinary kindness led him too exactly what he needed. Awesome!!!

Steve Shaiman: It's like an airport bookstore with lots of cool gadgets. Good customer service, especially for prime members. Convenient place to take Amazon returns.

Peter Miller Architecture And Design Books: what do users think?

Bryce Pielage: A really cool bookstore, with a phenomenal array of books, really well curated. They also have a nice selection of pens, notebooks, small design pieces and art.The no phones allowed sign, is a little bit odd, I think I can appreciate it in the sense of being present, and interested with the material in the store, but it is slightly off-putting.

Howard Sewell: Ignore the street address on Alaskan Way because the way to access the shop is through a parking lot adjoining First Avenue. If you blink you'll miss it, but don't because this place is an absolute gem. Spectacular selection of books on architecture and design and some great gift options including cool japanese notebooks and a wide array of pens. Worth a stop!

Dan Allison: you'll love this store.

James Brooks: Peter Miller Books is a gem.

Keith Cote: This place is just magical. I have been living in Seattle and collecting architecture books for over 10 years, and I just discovered this place. If there is a rare architectural tome you're hunting down, then this is the place for you!

Melissa Fuller: Very nice bookstore and stationery shop. I wish I had this in my hometown.

Ronaldo Tatang: What a great place for architecture enthusiasts. Peter was very friendly and helpful in suggesting books and answering to questions. He can tell stories about almost every book in the store. The place is somewhat hidden. If you are not searching for it, you might very easily miss it. It is at the end of a parking lot. Inside, the store has many books about great architects and also sells Junghans watches and Alessi kitchen products.

Houston Collins: It feeds your brain.

AdriaN: Staff was very helpful!

Shane Landry: An awe inspiring curated collection of art, design and architecture books, paper, drawing tools and unique extras for home and office.

Su Neato: Awesome bookstore!

Nate Stevens: A bookstore with personality! It's got classical music, a hand-selected array of architecture books, fancy decorative items, and stationery.

Andrei Villasana: My wife and I bought a beautiful pair of Junghans Max Bill watches at this store. We were assisted by Lily who is very polite, well mannered and educated, it was a great experience doing business at this store.

Ada's Technical Books and Cafe: what do users think?

Santhosh Ganesh: Love coming here for the books, puzzles and Malabar tea. Book clubs are awesome too

Cheyenne Tyler: I've been going to Ada's on and off for years. Recently started stopping by regularly and attending their monthly game nights in the Lab.Their staff is so sweet and welcoming, and the whole place feels very comfy and queer-friendly/safe.They have great summer drinks and seasonal pastries right now. Low-key in love with their newest one, the raspberry croissant. It's the closest thing I've found to a decent raspberry cronut since leaving San Francisco 🥐

Joe Walp: Ada's offers a small selection of high quality loose teas. They're mindful of appropriate water temperatures and steeping times. If you order a pot, they'll gladly offer a second infusion. I particularly enjoyed their Kodama Sencha, which has melon notes. Their seating can be suitable for reading while sipping; however, you may find that nearby conversations or their music with vocals to be distracting depending on the nature of your reading material.

Girish Shekhar: One of my favorite places in Seattle. Great coffee and an amazing selection of books. You can spend the entire day reading, sipping on coffee and enjoying some delicious baked goods.

Valli Dologlou: Amazing science bookstore and Cafe. If the weather is nice try the little porch in the back!

Alex Lofton: This shop is pure magic. Like, I walked in and the curation of books was everything I ever wanted to read. Found myself overwhelmed at times at just how much I wanted to pick up and delve into, knowing I can only go one book at a time! And there was such a genuine community feel in the air. Even for into an impromptu deep philosophical convo with one of the staff members. Love this place!

Adam Woodworth: In this decade, a good bookstore is known for it's curated book selection. It tells you who they are. The character of this place is unimpeachable. It's clever, it's classy, it's like hanging out in the home of your smartest friend who always has something new to show you. Except my smartest friend was never so tidy. The staff is diverse, friendly, and charming. Tip them well please. The book selection ranges from graphic novels to technical manuals about obscure programming languages. There are some comfortable tables with clever contents in their shadow-box-table-tops. Have you ever seen a table light up when you put your bag on it? Have you ever seen a hundred compasses go crazy when your phone vibrates? There's supposed to be an office loft, but I haven't found it yet.I hesitate to mention that there's an attached bar with regular social gatherings. Look, it's a super nice spot and I don't want it to get too crowded, okay? Try and and keep it a secret 😉.
