Good clothing is so expensive so you want them to fit properly. I am tall 5’9” have a high waist and smaller in the top than the hips. Having good alterations allows me to buy things a little larger and wear those dresses or tops I wouldn’t ordinarily be able to wear off the rack.

GLL's remedy was to send me newly cut sleeves but I would need to find someone local to remove the current ones, and attach the new ones that were the correct length. I reached out to Jenny Manes in a panic and after I brought the dress for her and Jessica to review, they were able to not only confirm they could make the necessary alterations but also have everything completed before my wedding date that was two months away. Jenny and Jessica were always kind and helpful whenever I met with them, and I walked home the week of my wedding with a gown that fit perfectly, and had the correct sleeve length. Jenny Kotlyar: Highly recommend Svetlana for her skill and craftsmanship! In the past, I’ve had other tailors ruin my clothes, but Svetlana’s work is of such high quality that I trust her implicitly with even my most important garments. I needed to have two dresses and a pair of pants altered for a destination wedding I'm attending in a few weeks. The dresses needed to have the straps shortened and moved so the dress sat better and was more flattering. Svetlana worked with me to understand my concerns and how we can ensure the dress sits where it needs to be. She then altered everything with impeccable skill. Her pricing is also incredibly fair, reflecting the amount of work each piece takes. And she worked quickly, so I had everything back in a week.

It was my first time actually being properly seen and heard by a seamstress and she did wonderfully! i brought the bridesmaid dress in October and she would asked when i would absolutely need it by and let her know that the wedding is in December so last week of November would have been perfect. I know she could have had it done in a week for me but i emphasized that she didnt need to rush because i was bringing it in long before the date i actually needed it by and she was VERY appreciative of it.i think the one thing to keep in mind is that her prices are very fair but if youre the type to bring something in and need it within a few days to a week of course the price will reflect that urgency because youre now putting pressure on someone for youre procrastination of getting an item altered.I will definitely be going back to Svetlana when it comes the time for my own wedding. Kitten Freeman: No photos of the dress unfortunately, but I just got my dress which I'm using for a Goth themed wedding, altered in some areas where it was a little loose. I have a body with very meticulous curves, and this dress was ordered online. I knew it was a risk, but I didn't know where else to go and I loved the dress I found on the website. It fits PERFECTLY now and I'm so excited they were able to fix it up so well! Very fair pricing and I recommend them to anyone needing quality alteration.

They have a lot of great selection of Áo dài from cute, casual ones to very elegant, dressy looking ones for special occasion. These Vietnamese dresses can be worn by anyone, in my opinion.I bought 3 and my daughter bought like 4 - 5 of them. I'm glad I found Sew Generously.Levi took his time getting to know me and my style, and we selected some incredible fabrics for a 3-piece gray suit, two jackets, and a couple of fun shirts. Levi patiently walked me through every detail and potential customization--buttons, lapels, pockets, linings--and we put a plan together.David and his team then went to work. They made sure the fit was perfect and no detail was too small for them to change. Want the buttons on your cuff moved a quarter inch? They'll happily do it.The thing I like the best though is that my new clothes look good when I wear them and move--not just when I'm posing like a mannequin. I have more than a few coats from other tailors that look great when I'm not moving but, for example, the lapel will crease when I raise my arms or try to move. The Sew Generously folks knew how to minimize these issues while still providing a great fit.I'd give 'em six stars if I could.

Joy Li: The ladies at Superb Tailors are excellent at their craft. My first experience with them was with my wedding dress. Since I wanted to honor my cultural roots, I had ordered a custom wedding dress online. However, the dress arrived two months before my wedding, and the fit was completely off. These ladies did an excellent job restructuring the dress in spite of all the complicated lace detailing and multiple layers. The finished dress looked incredible, and saved me the hassle of having to buy a last minute replacement dress for my big day!I got another pair of black trousers hemmed by them months later. The stitching was secure and well done. Love these ladies, and I will return for all my future tailoring needs.

Marla Manes: I panicked when my dress arrived, too big, just three weeks prior to my wedding day. The stress was mounting– as a photographer, I had quite high expectations for how perfect my day had to be– and I cried after reading horror stories on the internet about long turnaround times and botched alterations from various different places. But I found Elena, I called and she took me in same day, and she assured me that I had nothing to worry about. I left feeling like a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders, and I was calm for the next two weeks until the alterations were finished. Then, I was thrilled! My dress was extremely intricate– sparkly, beaded, and without any straps to support the weight of the gown– but she literally made it look like it was made for my body. It still looked just as beautiful, structurally, as it did from the designer, but now it fit like a glove and made me feel like a princess. Allison Stein: 5 stars is not enough. I came to Eltsa Custom Sewing a month before my wedding after another tailor had worked on my wedding dress and had really made it look not so good. I came in panicked and they immediately validated some of my concerns and formed a plan to fix everything. They were clear, fast, kind, and my dress looks so good now. I'm giving them 5 stars before I've even picked up my dress because of the immense relief at how my dress is looking now. Little did I know when I bought my dream off-the-shoulder lace gown, it would need to be reconstructed to defy gravity and stay up in place. I worked with the wonderful ladies at Eltsa to sew in a corset and it ended up fitting like a glove. They are clearly experts in their craft and offered several suggestions that I wouldn't have thought of myself — including reworking the lace pattern on the bodice to accentuate and cover the right areas. But it was adjustable so that as the night went on, I was able to loosen the inner belt to free me up for eating, drinking, and DANCING! Since it’s a mermaid fitted style dress I can really attach it to my bra or underwear without it being seen. And without a doubt the workers here already had a plan on how to hide the pumper without it being visible. They created a secret pocket on some spandex underneath my dress and they made sure it was easily accessible and also comfortable.I would recommend this spot for anyone who needs any alteration work. Craig Curran: keep hours that make zero sense. I mean, who is shopping for clothes in the middle of the week before 4 or 5?SO many clothing stores in the Seattle area are close between 4 and 6, meaning if you've got any sort of 'normal' job, you've got just about enough time to get there and try on one article before being shooed out.This is probably due largely to the fact that the owner, Scott is very hands-on, and is there most days of the week. It's great because when you've got important details to discuss concerning items being altered, you often get to deal with the owner himself, which is nice, for obvious reasons.It's no mystery why this store has outlasted so many other clothing stores in Seattle.

Nathan Wong: I googled for a tailor involving denim, and this place popped up around the 3rd or 4th website, so I check their website and looked up their address, which happens to be pretty close by to my friends place on 1st and Vine, I go over to bring my jacket over, left it with them for a couple days to wait for a estimate, come back to discuss what can be done and the pricing, which I fully agreed to, and let them do their magic.And magic is what they do best in the tailoring business from what I seen, I will go back for repairs on clothing I will need in whatever future that happens and whatever clothing I have in need of repairs.tl;drBest denim repair.

Victoria H: The Gold Thread is such a wonderful business and a gem to the West Seattle community. It is a mother and daughter team that run the place and they are both wonderful. They are so sweet and kind.They provide great customer service, and I always enjoy seeing the little black dog that they have that lies in its bed next to the counter. Too cute!They do excellent alterations, tailoring, and repairs. My wife and I have taken many things to them for repair and the work has been amazing and the items come back looking like new.
