Ivan Salaverry MMA: what do users think?

Shoki Ito: Best MMA gym in Seattle. Full of actual trained MMA, kickboxing fighters , and grapplers. Very welcoming community and funny, and the coaches train people to win. It’s a real fight gym, and the fighters reflect that.

Daniel Nieuwerf: Great gym. Will visit again next time I'm in Seattle.

Ryan Ishmael: I have been training martial arts for 10+ years and have visited many gyms in the US. Ivan Salaverrys mma is hands down one of the best I’ve ever visited, great technique and instruction along with welcoming and understanding energy. It keeps the hard nose intensity of a fight gym with the new age training techniques that make it possible for anyone to join and jump right in to classes. Ivan is one of the warmest welcomes I’ve ever had into a gym and I have seen no special treatment in this regard he is truly great to everyone.

Roger Kremer: The best of the best👊I drive 35 minutes each way from Monroe, Wa to train here!

Andrew Doyon: I trained at Ivan's for 5 years while living in Seattle. This is easily the best gym to train at in the area! The coaches and training partners are fantastic and will help you reach your goals whether you're there for fitness, competing, or as a fun hobby. Thanks for all the fun memories!

Pineapple Porcupine: hospitality was great, great coaches great wrestling

Kyoko Horiguchi: great experience there. clean, friendly, knowledgeable, communicative, fun!

Mr. Wheeler: Best MMA gym in Seattle! Amazing coaches and legit classes for all levels.

Casey Barrett: Was hit by a car infront of their gymIt seemed like everyone in the gym poured out to help in any way they could.Seriously compassionate people who went above, and beyond to be amazing members of their community. Thanks for all of yalls help making sure I was alright.

Jason Brisson: A truly great Gym. The instructors are kind, skilled, and passionate about their respective disciplines.

Praxis Brazilian Jiu Jitsu: what do users think?

Gavin Carew: As a disclaimer, I've trained here since 2015.I think what makes Praxis unique is that you are free to do Jiu jitsu how you like. If you just want some exercise, nobody will pressure you in to rolling hard or competing. If you want to compete, you will be pushed by all the high- level Jiu jitsu, including by professors Larry and Marty who roll frequently.

E. P.: Professor Larry, is the Man!

Adam Grimm: Awesome gym to train at. I drop in and train here when traveling to Seattle. Larry is great at teaching those little details that help improve your technique.

Matt Vardeman: I had the opportunity to train at this gym. Great instruction, structured classes, good safe competitive environment that focused on learning. Highly recommend this gym in Seattle.

Brett Walker: While traveling for work I was able to take a class with Larry. He was very knowledgeable and was able to improve my understanding of how to utilize my training partner’s weight/pressure to improve my position. It was a very challenging session. I am excited to come back on my next trip.

Randall Sanders: Fantastic gym to train at. I was visiting from Tennessee and Professor Larry was extremely welcoming, as were his students. He loaned me a gi with no hesitation and allowed me to join his advanced class. The rolls were very hard but safe, everyone was trying to get better and not trying to hurt anyone just to win. Very competitive gym, very clean, and I would recommend training here whether you live in Seattle or are just visiting.

Ranjan Lamichhane: A really cool place to master the art of Jiu Jitsu. The trainer is great, and so are all the people you train with. Very respectful, technical, and fun.

Sarah Maureen: Excellent training, coaching and community.

Brian LosKamp: Amazing people. Amazing training. Amazing instructor - Professor Larry is who you want to train you. Give Praxis a try and you will not regret it.

Valerie Hawkins: I trained here while travelling for work and had a wonderful experience! Larry was approachable, friendly, and of course knowledgeable. The students were welcoming and helpful when I had questions. I especially loved the advanced class where Larry showed us just a couple moves and taught broad concepts but then allowed the students to be creative and play with the new movements/concepts. I found it very helpful adding that in after standard drilling to see how if fits in with your overall game. I will definitely come back next time I'm in Seattle!

Beatrice Jin: I trained at Praxis for a week from out of town in 2019 and the experience stuck with me ever since. Larry has created in incredible, inclusive environment where people of all levels can safely train and develop as martial arts. I visited again in 2022 and was not disappointed. This is one of the best places in town to start your jiu-jitsu journey. Solid fundamentals, plenty of details, helpful students, well run class.

Kogaion Academy Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu & Judo: While in Seattle I trained at Praxis BJJ. I highly recommend training there if you are in town or want to become a student. Professor Larry’s quality teaching is top notch, the class is well balanced with drilling, situationals and sparring. Students are welcoming and friendly, facility has a clean elevated extra-cushioned mat area. Safe, technical and welcoming.

kaushali kanakia: Praxis is a great gym with lots of classes for beginners to train through the week. The teachers are kind and patient. Even with little to no knowledge before joining, I enjoy every class and feel I am getting better every time. Larry is a great teacher!

Sebastian Matei: Just started training BJJ a month ago here and have really enjoyed it. Everyone is laid back and want to help you improve. Instructors, including the owner Larry are welcoming and knowledgeable. It's worth checking out, especially if you're near downtown Seattle.

Combat Arts Academy of Seattle: what do users think?

Crystal Uka: Jeton: I like it! It keeps me from playing games and getting me outside! I like working out and feeling me get stronger!Dad: i like it, hes doing good and gives him a break from video games. I like how the Coach is and see some cool moves.Mom: i think its awesome! Such a great experience and he likes it so much that we got grandpa investing in him monthly to keep going!!Thanks for being just around the corner, his confidence has grown and discipline! I thank you!!Uka Family!

P: I cannot say enough good things about Combat Arts Academy. The coaches are all truly amazing and incredibly knowledgeable. As someone who is extremely shy, I was hesitant to start training in Muy Thai, but this place has made me feel comfortable and welcomed from day one. I am so excited to be on this journey and who knows, maybe one day I'll have a fight in the ring. Thank you Combat Arts Academy for creating such a positive and empowering environment.

Kevin Gallagher: Amazing experience visiting Combat Arts Academy while visiting Seattle. Strong gym culture here.

Connor L: The folks at CAA are very friendly and welcoming while keeping a healthy level of intensity. Training here has been one of the best decisions I've made in recent years. Whether you're interested in BJJ or Muay Thai, you'll get an awesome workout, learn valuable skills, and meet some really cool people!

Molly Reis: This is a really special place. A clean, spacious facility run by knowledgeable, supportive, friendly coaches who really care about their students. I’d recommend it to anyone interested in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and/or Muay Thai!

Isaac Wastman: Equal parts competitive, safe, and inclusive, CAA is hands down the premier combat sports gym for people of all ages and sizes. Highly recommended for any level.

Kendrick Washington: I’ve been training in martial arts over two decades and CAA had to be the most memorable and meaningful experience. I started in their strength and conditioning program and a fellow lifter convinced me to give jujitsu a try. Coach Sonia has truly built something beautiful. We train hard and we take care of each other equally hard. My daughter and partner train here too. I can’t think of a better place to train as a family.

Adam Shumays: Very friendly, very knowledgeable crew here. Highly Recommend.

deb jack (DJ): Love working out in this space!!! Everyone is so supportive. My trainer is the BEST!!!

Asma Noray: I love this gym! Very supportive environment and knowledgeable coaches that are really invested in your growth.

Chelsea Herting: I am so happy to have found this gym!! I am terrible at pushing myself to go to a regular gym, but combining a good workout with a purpose like learning a new sport has helped me so much. The staff is so friendly and the overall environment is very inclusive. Its also a very relaxed and judgment free zone where I feel like I can learn and make mistakes and no one is watching me or making fun. I am already feeling stronger and I was surprised at how much it has improved my mental health as well. Thank you CAA!!!

Olivia Authorlee: Super nice space super nice environment super nice people

Kira Kearsley: The best BJJ and Muay Thai gym in West Seattle. An amazing and warm atomsphere. Everyone is treated as family. The people are amazing and the coaches are the best I have ever had.I absolutely recommend this gym.

maddy jones: I cannot say enough positives about this gym - I started just wanting to learn the basics of self defense so I joined the Muay Thai program. Sonia, the owner, was incredibly welcoming, helpful, and encouraging. the class was a great size and I absolutely love the bag classes. The other coaches, Jaime and Joe, are very helpful and take their time if you need a little extra instruction or tips after class. I have since switched to BJJ and absolutely love it. Being up close in someone's space is incredibly uncomfortable for most people and yet with the people here it is somehow fun, challenging, and the best part of my day!

Heather Rowlett: Honestly, I have zero complaints about this incredible woman-owned gym. At 36, I finally decided it was time to try to learn a few tools to find the ground in moments when overwhelmed by powerlessness, after trying out a few gyms in the area I landed at CAA. Sonia has gone above and beyond building a safe community for just that, hiring thoughtful, gentle and patient staff with an unparalleled understanding of consent culture. **trauma-informed staff alert** Jaime and Joseph lead the introductory Muy Thai series and both create an atmosphere that brings me back and is challenging without being overbearing or threatening. I laugh my way through each class, always leaving drenched and with homework that was uniquely catered to my learning level and needs. If you're seeking a place that feels like community and is facilitated by folks that are dedicated to you reaching your goals-this is it. Run, don't walk. You won't regret it.

Fight Gods Mixed Martial Arts Academy: what do users think?

Ivan Molokoedov: Want to know how to make it right? That’s the place.

Jennifer Silves: Ryan Bow has a super calm unflappable demeanor and explains things carefully, completely, and without overexplaining. When he demonstrates moves he's athletic enough to pause in just about any position, and does, when it will help clarify something, which is nice because I have slow eyes and jiujitsu gets fast.It just happened to be the dojo closest to my home at the time when I joined. 2 1/2 years later I'm still beyond happy with the atmosphere, teaching, and workout.

Hope M: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,Value

Fernando De Santiago: Coach Ryan provides a great atmosphere, where we all can learn at our own pace. He's super experienced and knowledgeable, being a former professional fighter and all! Come and see it for yourself! You wont regret it!

Hussein Allami: Coach Ryan very experienced and great coach, all round amazing mma gym !!

Max Flynn: Ryan bow is an amazing coach and teaches his students invaluable lessons inside and outside the ring. He is an inspiration and will make sure you look forward to every session. He has a wealth of knowledge in all aspects of mma whether that be for fights, self defence situations or general fitness. Can't recommend training with him enough!

Darren Dos Santos: Diamond in the rough, small gym with incredible background. Well paced to practice new and old skills. A great work out while learning defense methods.

Steven Marshall: This gym is awesome! I was a little nervous the first time I went in because I had zero martial arts experience, but the gym is super welcoming and immediately made me feel comfortable. Coach Ryan is great at helping students to develop a solid foundation of basics and then building up to more technical skills. I’ve been going for about two months so I’m still a beginner, but I learn something new and get a little better with each class. If you’re looking for a great workout or are interested in building some solid MMA skills in a friendly, supportive environment, you should definitely check out Fight Gods.

Essene Nazarene: Great teacher and top quality training! Rare to find someone so experienced!

Theo Ray: Ryan Bow is one of the most experienced and inspiring coaches that I have had the opportunity to train with. He combines a wealth of knowledge from years training and competing in MMA with incredible people skills to make his training accessible for anyone from beginner to professional MMA fighter. Anyone would be lucky to have him as a coach and a mentor.

Steve Kaiser: Having trained with Ryan he's one of the very best coaches. Breakdown and teaching style is incredible and he paces his classes so everyone learns and is engaged from beginners to experts. I highly recommend private lessons on knee bars. He's a master who can make adjustments to fit your game!!

Evan O'Reilly: I have had the pleasure to train under coach Ryan and I cannot say enough good things about his teaching. Aside from his wealth of knowledge, technique, amiable personality and his tremendous mma experience and credentials, I found his ability to relay his knowledge to be really engaging. He has an obvious love for martial arts and can really connect with students when teaching. If you're anywhere near Fight Gods, you need to make this your new home for fitness or martial arts. You won't regret it.

Paolo Ettorre: I had the honour and luck to train under coach Ryan Bow . I have no right words to express my gratitude to him for how much i learned. Ryan is a great teacher, he has real knowledge and experience and for sure your grappling /mma skill will improve . Go and train under at his new academy.

Eric Ramsey: Ryan Bow is a pioneer and a legend of MMA. I've learned a lot from him as a coach and as a mentor. I would recommend anyone to take the opportunity to train with Coach Ryan at Fight Gods MMA.

JamesKyujin: Ryan Bow is an excellent coach and instructor. I personally had the privilege to learn under him while living in Grand Rapids Michigan. He has a vast knowledge of the martial arts and sport competition ranging from Judo, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiujitsu, Wing Chung, and MMA. He has traveled the world competing at the highest professional level and studied under great instructors in the profession. Ryan is also a great person and truly cares about his students on and off the matts. If your looking for a school to learn martial arts or to stay in shape I highly recommend attending his school.

andrew s peterson: . He also was a professional Muay Thai fighter and world title condending professional MMA combatant. He trained and fought in Japan for a decade and reached the highest level in the sport of MMA. He trained with some of the best

Mark Hillan: Coach Ryan's coaching ability is out of this world. In the year that I had the pleasure to train with him, he not only greatlyenhanced my combat skills but also my life skills. His knowledge of martial arts is at times unbelievable, and it shows through all of his years of experience. Do yourselves all a favour and get down to his gym and have a great time, meet a brilliant trainer/human and learn from the very best.

Ten Kicks Gym: what do users think?

Keegan Farias: Everyone fits in here. There are pro fighters, amateurs and those just waiting a fun work out. Grade A pad holding best in the business.

Joshua Picar: Amazing team here. Helped a beginner like me try out new things a stress free environment. Would recommend them to anyone thinking of joining.

Nina Rasmussen: What a great gym with some lovely people. Everyone here is so welcoming whether you're experienced or not. The classes are motivating and fun. Highly recommend!

Bpex YT (冷豆): Generally speaking, I feel boring and have no interest in exercising here. I am quite happy to work out here. The coaches seem to be very experienced and take good care of them. Newcomers who haven’t exercised in a few years don’t feel like they can’t keep up. I’m not too young, but it’s not just young people here. Basically, it seems that they can do it. Adjust according to each person’s amount of exerciseIt was my first time to train alone with Coach Anne on the mat. It was really awesome. I haven’t sweated so much in a long time. There are different classes every day after work. There are fitness, weightlifting, Sanda, Muay Thai, Jiu-Jitsu, and everything. So no matter how busy you are, you can still come here every week. twice

Gregor Fjellrev: For me, it is worth the fifty minute walk to train here. Affordable drop-in rates combined with skilled instructors make for a worthy gym indeed.

Gus Montgomery: My experience at TenKicks in the 6am classes have been exceptional. My instructors have been very welcoming and fun to exercise with. It was my first experience with any type of combat training, and it was great. After the tear of Achilles tendon from playing basketball, I was seeking a new type of exercise to keep me in shape and I'm glad I found this gym.

Henry Apfel: , and a very solid facility with everything from conditioning classes to a barbell strength training class to, of course, kickboxing and grappling and on occasion both at once.Ten Kicks is friendly. Like, extremely so. I'm not convinced they don't practice names five times before bed every night because they somehow seem to have everyone's memorized with remarkably rapidity. The coaching is systematic; drills build slowly, adding additional complexity over the course of a class, and there are multi-week stretches where you're practicing similar concepts, giving you ample practice time to "get it" - assuming you can manage to attend consistently. Coaches are supportive and thoughtful. There's much more of a gender balance in the coaching and among the class attendees, as well, versus a lot of combat sports gyms I've seen, which is probably a good sign. They have a group of people who fight, and will do their best to prepare you for a fight - of whatever ruleset

dina utami: Well, about half a year has passed and here I am still training. Ten Kickers are diverse

camilla pedersen: Fantastic gym! With a great sense of team spirit!

Arthur Vartanyan: Good blend of casual and serious atmosphere. Cool place, full of cool people. Lots of outside gym activities. I definitely considering these people friends and not just gym mates. No one takes themselves too seriously, but people here can still throw down and regularly fight in smokers/ammy/pro fights.

Nitin: Words might do injustice to how good this place is. The place is awesome, people are even better. Give it a try.

Niza Matzick: Great staff! it was always good sweaty workout and everyone was always friendly, welcoming and fun!

Stuart Tsuchida: I've been to 5 different gyms and this was easily one of the best of not the best MMA gym. They really care about the people that come through. It's the only place that has talked about the mental side of the sport in such depth and understanding. They don't believe in trial by fire and work with you where you are to improve and progress. All of the coaches have a passion for their work.

SparkzAlot: Having been attending for over a month now to a mix of classes, conditioning, and gym member's fights I feel confident in saying this gym is standout in how knowledgeable, friendly, accepting, and just generally outstanding it is.Ever single regular I've met is equally as nice and welcoming and it's inspiring to find a gym which has such a high concentration of those that do fight. Those there come from a huge mix of backgrounds, nations, orientations, and presentations. What I'm trying to say is I've only been coming about a month and a half and it already feels like home - its a great spot and I highly recommend coming in.

Rachel Segrest: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueI love this gym! I regularly attended the conditioning workouts at 6am. The trainers are kind and competent, the workouts are fun yet intense and the results are undeniable.

Willow: Great place! Super friendly and awesome owner and staff.

Macgregor Manwiller: Positive:QualityA+ staff owners and trainers.

Thomas McElroy: . He had his birthday party here and a friend joined and has loved it too. Great instructors and structure to the classes. Cannot recommend it enough.

Robin W: . The program fosters the development of physical and mental skills along with a sense of goal-setting and achievement. It's been so rewarding to see my son's confidence and self-discipline grow as he's moved through the different belts and class levels. I cannot recommend Alpha enough!

Nikita Nekliudov: Very friendly and welcoming environment, fantastic teachers, they reignited my love for kickboxing, highly recommend

Ibrahim Sky: This place have so much fun I can’t imagine

Shreya Sriram: I visited this martial arts studio in 2018 for the first time. The environment here is simply amazing and the instructors go around to clarify any questions the students have and help correct their form. I took a break in between and resumed classes in 2021, I really love the instructors despite the number of times we're asked to do burpees in a class. Sarah, Alex, Sarah, Jay are just the best. I don't feel like I'm attending a class, it's just fun to do these drills that were once super exhausting. I'm glad to have gained some strength and lost quite a lot of weight since I joined these classes again in 2021. Also, it feels safe working out here during the pandemic thanks to the masking policy they have that they take very seriously.

Pratik Agarwal: Sarah and the team provide a great kickboxing experience at AMA. Newbie or old timer to workouts; this place will make you sweat!

Darrell John: I love the early morning fitness kickboxing!

Suprova Sarkar: Great place to learn martial arts with super enthusiastic and dedicated trainer.

Veky V: Good layout, fun and positive attitude-one healthy and good environment for beginners or intermediate fighters. Would highly recommend to everyone willing to do some exercise and learn some kickboxing skills

Dorothy Ho: My almost seven-year-old girl has been here for about a year and we love it. The teachers are awesome, the location can't be beat. It's a welcoming environment with a solid curriculum for young kids from the age of four. Instills discipline while teaching kickass moves. LOVE IT.

Eva Carlstrom: are both in karate classes at Alpha Martial Arts. They enjoy it and benefit from the training, both physical

Jason Gold: Way better than working out on your own or at a gym... The instructors are great and keep you motivated to push on. The best hour workout I have ever had and I'm learning some technique as well!

Jason Sims: Great workout in just an hour. Surprising how quickly you work into a sweat. Great way to cross-train for endurance athletes.

The Stasj: . After your first session, you're let loose upon the room, choosing your own Wave Master to wail on. On occasion, the class is packed, so you might have to share, which is how you meet people

MKG Martial Arts, Kickboxing & Fitness: what do users think?

Jose Armando Martinez: If you're wondering if you should try out MKG, stop, and go try it! I have attended their classes since 5 months ago and I can't be happier with the community, knowledge, trust, and respect that has been built with my teammates.Their essentials classes are a great way to delve with both feet into the great world of martial arts, even if you're a total newbie like I am. Their program is structured and you won't feel lost, as these classes are thought in a way that they can be useful for both new people, or even the experienced martial artist looking to finesse their technique.Eventually you will get a hang of the essentials and will be ready to branch off to many of their other classes. Their coaches are great and will help out with any doubt or question; Mandy, Ryan, Steve, Manolito, Brian, Medwin, and many others will make you feel welcomed, and help you explore your own martial artist venture. If you decide to give a shot, see you in HIIT class!

Maddie Ask: I held a sorority self-defense class with this company and i could not recommend them MORE. they were very patient with all 45 girls we had in attendance, the course was very hands on and we were able to get real world applications for the moves we learned. tell you mom, sister, friend, anyone you can to come take a class here. i will 100% be back for the in depth self defense class.

Amber Worley: Just took their Womens Self Defense Workshop and man I am so glad that I did.It is a powerful, 5 hour course on how to deal with the unthinkable. Its hard to face it but so glad I did.I now feel like I might have a chance in a scary situation to make it out alive and go home to my family. They are sensitive to the topic and have women volunteers to practice with along with large men in padded suites whom the instructor encourages to hit as hard as you can. There is a big difference between practice and actually hitting someone.Thank you!!! Thank you.

Derek T: Great school with friendly folks and knowledgable staff. Lots of fitness equipment, decent selection of supplies. Limited parking. Food truck on site.

Colton Cannon: The MKG staff emanates professionalism and hospitality. I am consistently challenged by the coaches and have seen an appreciable increase in my overall fitness. I think you will be hard pressed to find a Crossfit gym of equal value in the greater Seattle area and I found their prices to be more than fair; they even have a military/veteran discount. If you reading this, this is your sign to come join us!

Neil Shah: MKG has been life changing for me. I love the coaches and the people. It has allowed me to not only to get in shape but also challenged me to go further in fitness abilities that I thought I never had!

Ben Shapiro: This school is top notch in the Pacific NW. The instructors take great pride in quality organized instruction. Students are encouraged to develop their skills and seek higher measure in their abilities and life's journey. There is also a strong sense of family kinship and respect at MKG. Safety Is also stressed as most combative skills here are developed through interactive learning as students pair up for drills.

Darren Monk: Started here back in October ‘21 with the goal of losing weight and improving stamina. Was 226lb when I started and today I am 205! Very supportive trainers and the other people in class are kind and supportive also. Excellent gym and I fully recommend it.

Jill Olney: MKG is a great place to work out! They do a good job of challenging the elite athlete or modifying your work out if you are beginning a fitness regimen to or recovering from an injury.Coaches Scott and Tammy are excellent at teaching the fundamentals of each lift. The work outs are incredibly challenging and tough! However, I love the way I feel after a CrossFit session. I see progress in my lifting, flexibility and cross-functional training. When I started at MKG I came in as a experienced cycle instructor-- but I had so much room to grow incorporating burpees, rowing, the ski machine and more. The MOD's will challenge you link no other! Check them out!

Tracy Holmes: Love this place! Awesome teachers and students. I recommend them to everyone, for crossfit to kick boxing to self defense, they have it all!

Matt Pride: I've been going to MKG for about 8 months now. I feel like I've learned so much, and yet have still so much to learn. It's been an exceptional experience all the way through.I originally joined for the Kali classes, but then started getting really into the kickboxing and muay thai classes, too. There is a lot of depth to the curriculum, especially if you cross-train in each of the different styles being taught. The instructors I've learned under here have all been phenomenal. Sifu Andrew Wilson, the owner and lead instructor of MKG, is a great teacher. He's got a wealth of knowledge from decades of martial arts experience, and has run this local, family-owned business in Seattle for 20+ years. He is a patient and insightful teacher, and is always willing to provide honest and constructive feedback to help each student progress. It's inspiring to see such dedication from a martial artist and small business owner, and only further reinforces my appreciation for his school.Ryan Teal, another teacher there, is a brilliant instructor, and really knows how to motivate students to push themselves, both in skill and fitness. He is a very friendly and encouraging guy, but his classes present an impressive level of challenge which will test you both physically and mentally. He displays an amazing level of skill in communicating and demonstrating techniques, but puts your skills to the test with a level of complexity which will not hold your hand. He also participates in the challenging workouts alongside the class, which is extremely motivating and inspires me to fight through the exhaustion just like he does. He's an absolute top-tier teacher, and I have mad respect for him.And yes, the stuff you learn here is practical for self-defense.This school has remained standing strong through the many challenges COVID-19 put in front of martial arts schools, and it has been a place for me to turn to for knowledge, inspiration, courage, and friendship.I give MKG my highest recommendation, it's a dope martial arts school.

Seattle Integrated Martial Arts: what do users think?

Zoe Rohaly: I've been taking self defense classes for a few months now and I can't praise Bob and his technique enough. He's patient while also pushing me to overcome my fears and learn how to handle my own. Whether you're looking for self defense, regular fighting classes, or just a fun empowering way to workout - Bob is your guy!!!!!

Edwin del Carpio: There are quite a few martial schools in West Seattle, but Seattle Integrated Martial Arts effectively combines the arts of Kali, JKD, and my favorite, Panantukan. Bob, Jordo, and the entire team's instruction of each of the disciplines is unparalleled. And, there is no worry to be overwhelmed if you just started; each of the classes are thoughtfully structured and cater to all levels of experience. Likewise, you will definitely get a workout with the conditioning sets the instructors put together. If you are looking for a different way to get your body moving, Seattle Integrated Martial Arts is the way to go.

Derek T: Great place to train! Decent sized gym with good equipment. Knowledgeable and friendly staff, core group of students in each discipline with a fair bit of crossover. Not an aggro school so look elsewhere if looming for that.

John de Mars: SIMA is a great gym for BJJ, JKD/KALI, and Muay Thai. Classes range beginner to advanced.

Seattle City Talent: I’ve trained Inosanto lineage Kali/JKD at another great gym, spent time in some of the best MMA and boxing gyms in Seattle so I’ve got a significant point of reference. Just started here and I can already tell you this is one of the best martial art gyms in Seattle! Very practical, fun and realistic in all ranges of combat. Do yourself a favor and check Guro Bob out if you want to learn the real deal in a comfortable environment.

Jaime Forero: Great martial arts studio

SEA Gyke: Fantastic staff and instructors. Great programs for adults and kids. Community atmosphere among the students.

Wes Olsen: My son has been here for almost two years and loves it. Great teachers and staff and a helpful growing culture on the mats.

Karl Barmuta: I originally enrolled at Seattle Integrated Martial Arts because I was having problems at home and I needed a way to let out stress and get in better shape. What I found here was so much more. Originally I was shy and intimidated training with these guys who could completely crush me if they wanted, but one of the philosophies at SIMA is that anyone should feel comfortable training with anyone else. Over the past 3 years SIMA has become an important part of my life with many of my training partners becoming very close friends. I'm more confident now and in better shape than I have been in in the past 18 years. It's a wonderful community so drop on it, give it a chance and see how it can change your life.

Chris Pitts: I'm fairly new to SIMA and I've found the environment fantastic. The instructors are all patient, very prepared for every class, thorough and welcoming. My classmates have all been great to work with. Being very new I have felt like everyone wants to support each other and will help to make sure you get it right every time. I feel very safe here and always look forward to the next class.

Ben Astaire: I've been going to classes at SIMA for about two months now and I'm stronger, faster, and feeling better than I have since I was in college. I really wanted to learn Jeet Kune Do and SIMA is one of the few places that offers it. I take classes in Kali and Muay Thai mainly, which are complementary and contributory to learning JKD later. And there are at least four other kinds of fighting that I don't practice but I can jump in and out of anytime I want. The classes aren't fussy, pretentious, or reliant on ceremony as a lot of other martial arts schools are. Show up, wear the school t-shirt, bow-in, and practice. Most classes consist of a series of moves that range from one beat to complex combinations. Every exercise builds on the last and instructors are patient, observant, and invested in ensuring that each person in a class executes exercises properly. Good technique leads to speed and you see steady results week to week.Bob, the owner, is an affable fella who's hired some highly skilled, very dedicated instructors who also practice and compete for the school. There's a strong community and camaraderie at SIMA. It's a great place to learn a new new way to exercise your mind and body without the posturing and self-consciousness of being on your own in a gym.

Ty: Great instructor, great people and a great workout!

Coaches Fred and Josh are exceptional, motivating you to push your limits, improve your skills, and they genuinely appreciate your efforts. I look forward to each class, it not only provides a fantastic full-body workout but also serves as a refreshing escape from my work life, helping me cultivate a calmer mind.

Evan Eckels: Trained here for a year and it was amazing. The coaches are great and everyone there is very welcoming and great training partners. Came in as a complete beginner and ended up competing at tournaments with the team and had a ton of fun. Only reason I stopped coming here was because I moved out. Gonna miss this place!

Jacob Benson: Fred & Josh are the best in Seattle!!

YingYoung: Been going since Covid and the training is hardcore. Everyone has good vibes and such a great environment to be around during sparring and training.

Trinady Marie: My son was going here for about a year and he absolutely loved it. The coaches and owners were positively amazing. He learned so much and I am so thankful he went here. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone. They are so understanding when teaching and take their time to fully help others understand what they are doing and what they are suppose to be doing.

Sarah Johnson: Best Muay Thai gym around. Great coaches and they will push you in a positive way to be your best! Love the atmosphere and the energy of the gym. Whenever I’m in Seattle and around I make sure to catch a class.

Ken Tate: I really enjoyed the classes I took taught by Kim and everyone I met at this gym. It was a great environment to learn Muay Thai and very welcoming. Highly recommended.

Austin Akers: This is a great gym for people from all sorts of backgrounds. They have a great environment and atmosphere which I have had difficulties finding before. It's a welcoming school and is a good place to go no matter if you just want a fun workout or want to compete.

new account: Best crew.

Thomas Vlahos: This place is amazing! The vibe is spot on for learning! Everyone was relaxed and focused on teaching the fundamentals first. I highly recommend this place!

Steven Fox: Fantastic gym! I started here about a year ago. Of course it's temporarily closed now due to the pandemic, but it should be reopening again soon. Can't wait to go back. Great group of talented men and women with a good attitude. Not bid egos. Come train with us!

Alex Kim: Pacific Muay Thai is a cleanly, welcoming, and supportive environment for anyone who wants to learn the discipline of Muay Thai. The head trainer Kim, is very professional and precise in his instructions. I have consistently gotten a great workout and solid fundamental knowledge with each successive classes I have attended. I highly recommend anyone who is interested in Muay Thai to join Pacific Muay Thai.

Catherine Walkenshaw: After previously training in Thailand, I needed to find a Muay Thai gym at home in Seattle. I had taken some time off and was a bit nervous to start up classes again, but both Kim and Eric were incredibly kind and welcoming! They run a wonderful gym that truly has heart and I'm so lucky to have had this experience!

Alwiya Omar: Safe space to train. Also, Eric,Kim, and Louis help me get better at Muay Thai every day.

Chris Gummeson: Awesome Muay Thai gym! The coaches are great and really care about their students. Great place to go if you just want exercise, or you are training for a fight. You will get an amazing workout but will not be pushed to fight if you don't want to. Strong emphasis on technique and doing everything right. They also teach the clinch, which is something you won't get at cardio kickboxing gyms.

Karla Mohtashemi: Awesome place with great teachers! Class went by so quickly!

Lotus Jiu Jitsu: what do users think?

Gabe Sprague: I've had such a good experience here. An inclusive jiujitsu community that welcomes everyone. I have no prior jiujitsu experience and found the instruction very clear, effective, and patient. I also have a child that trains here, and they do a great job with her.The community here is top notch, too, with other members being very helpful and understanding of everyone's personal and shared journeys.

Stuart Lehalle: Our two kiddos 5 and 7 love their class. In only six months we’ve seen our oldest blossom in confidence and physical awareness. He brags about how he exercises being still and concentrating in class. Our youngest has a hard time in new group situations and he has just slipped right in and is so happy. The instructor is really fun and attentive to the kids needs and learning. It’s been a great experience for our family.

Vasileios Siafos: .I know that his dream was at one point to open his own dojo and share the knowledge that he obtain from Professor Eduardo's teachings thru out the years. If you choose to go and train with him I can guaranty you a very friendly martial arts environment that caters to all level students from the very beginner to advance.Professor Bravo is a very passionate individual with a wealth of Knowledge and tournament experience.Lotus club Jiujitsu roots originate from São Paulo Brazil and focuses a lot on the traditional style kimono Jiujitsu witch in my opinion is the best way to start your journey in the gentle art.If you live in the Seattle area pop in and take a class, you won't be disappointed! Osssss !

Tai Luu: I started 3 months ago with no prior experience and I couldn't be happier to have found Lotus to begin my jiu jitsu journey. Professor Bravo is not only extremely knowledgeable, but also a gifted and patient teacher who genuinely cares about each of his students. Every person I've met here has been very welcoming and inclusive, making it feel like a tight knit community who supports each other to learn, grow, and meet whatever goals we have for ourselves. I hope to enroll my daughter here when she gets a bit older as it's clear the kids program is thriving as well. No hesitations in recommending Lotus to anyone thinking about joining!

JoyAnn Pardo: As a woman new to a gym what I'm looking for is to feel safe and welcomed. And Lotus provided that from the very start, especially through their Women's Classes. Every class I leave with a smile, having felt challenged, empowered, and exhausted in the best way. I also appreciate knowing this is a club committed to social justice and serving the community.

Sam Louie: I started training recently and can’t be happier with the values here at Lotus: safety, detail-oriented, and the sense of community. Professor treats his craft with love and respect and it emanates through his instruction, organization, and sincere desire to help everyone improve. The other practitioners are dedicated not only their growth but your growth as well.

Gus Millevolte: Mindful self defense training with a patient knowledgeable instructor. A wonderfully supportive training environment that offers a safe community for all. Rolls that are well worth your time and commitment.

Hila Berkovitsh: What a wonderful place it is for the little ones to burn some energy, practice Jiujitsu and learn some self control. My kids are loving it and couldn't recommend them more!

Alexandre Papa manara: One of the best professors in the West Coast!! Best place in Seattle 🙏🙌

Christopher Vranos: From the minute I stepped on the mat and met the team, I had a great time. Coach Bravo is excellent, and all of his students follow his example to be friendly and helpful. I have a spine injury from a recent unrelated accident a few months ago, and their team was totally accommodating. Every member worked with me carefully to make sure not to put pressure on my neck, and they modified techniques to make sure that even though there were things I couldn't do, I could still gain something from the class. I'd highly recommend this gym for being safe and fun. You won't find kinder people anywhere.

Alison Billings: Our son has attended Lotus for close to 2 years and has found a wonderfully supportive community to learn Jiu Jitsu and all benefits of this thoughtful martial art.

kelby johnson: . Jessica is an amazing communicator and is super flexible with scheduling. She also solicits feedback from practitioners to improve programming. I

Jennifer Weston: Love Lotus Jiu Jitsu! Such a warm and welcoming space with a great sense of community. Everyone is very friendly and encouraging. Highly recommend!

J. Rochell Thurman-Nguyen: and for the past year+ has been doing classes in-person. As a parent, it can be hard finding a good fit in terms of extracurricular activities, and I have been so impressed with this organization. I know that when my daughter is at the Lotus BJJ dojo, she is seen, safe, cared for, respected and encouraged. Over these past 2 years, I have seen growth in her discipline, building community with others, and empowerment. I appreciate the care and passion that the owners, Profe Bravo and his wife Jessica, bring to the dojo every day. As a BIPOC parent, it is also important to me to be intentional about the spaces that my children are in and to see diversity of ethnic and other social identities. Lotus BJJ encourages and welcomes this diversity. My daughter looks forward to her BJJ classes each week and I feel both lucky and proud to be in the Lotus BJJ family.

Leila Mohamed: Lotus jiu-jitsu club was the best place to be for my 5yo daughter after we faced grief and some hardships in housing, she is thriving and is becoming a more confident little girl than she used to be. The team who is welcoming our kids are just genuinely amazing and are doing an excellent job at teaching this self defense martial art! Very appreciative of their effort!

Norea Hoeft: Can't say enough about what an amazing community Professor Enrique and Jessica have created here in Seattle. My daughter has built confidence, strength, and serious fighting skills, and she has met life-long friends and mentors. As she grows into a young woman, I feel immensely comforted that she has this experience and training. We feel so lucky to have found Lotus!

Ricardo Gabriel: I've known Professor Enrique and Jessica for about 20 years. They are two of the most talented, kindhearted, and honorable people I know. They are special people who live out their commitment to community and social justice in everything they do. I mention these things because character is one of the first things you should look for in a martial arts instructor. I had the pleasure of training with Professor Enrique in NYC just before I became a blue belt. Like all good BJJ instructors, he is great at sparring safely with beginners in a way that challenges them and enables them to learn. As a Lotus Jiu Jitsu black belt, Professor Enrique's lineage is strong and he learned from one of the best, Professor Eduardo Santos, who I also had the pleasure of training under. If you're in Seattle, this is the place to be to begin or continue your BJJ journey.

Eddy Rivera: Lotus is an incredible place to train. Professor is extremely patient and insightful. Lotus provides a safe environment to learn and grow with the sport. It’s a great space for kids as well as adults to get into BJJ. I especially love how their whole family is involved and so it feels like a fantastic environment for anyone, or everyone, in the family to get involved with BJJ. While I trained with them in their earliest stages awhile back, if I was in Seattle long term, my whole family would be training with them consistently.

Seattle Jiu-Jitsu Academy: what do users think?

Jesse Barracoso: . I was very wrong. I got absolutely whupped on. My mediocrity was revealed by SJJA's then small number of members and the 12-15 nightly sparring rounds. I stayed and have been a member for a few years now and am grateful to know that there will never be a shortage of challenging training partners at SJJA.Non-traditional, no bowing, no warm-ups, no masters, lots of metal.

Mikayla Carias: ~1.5 years ago.The class schedule provides room for lots of mat time. Saturday open mat is free to anyone. The training partners are great people and consist of many upper belts. Finally, the SJJA community is supportive, welcoming, hard working, and knowledgeable. If you’re new, looking to continue, for the hobbyist training, or interested in competitions - SJJA is that atmosphere!PS. You might get some sick action shots cause some of our members are very good 📸

Yonas Meshesha: Best gym in the Seattle area by far. Gym is very large and can host a lot of people rolling, clean and hygienic, and awesome culture. The best thing about SJJA is the way Dave runs class, in which you have time to develop your own style/game through consistent live rounds. Highly recommend joining!

Gabriel Moss: I can’t tell you how much I appreciate this gym; not only as someone who is new to martial arts but also as someone who historically is a bit of a back-of-the-classroom introvert. Dave has done a fantastic job of not only creating a top environment for learning BJJ but also creating a corresponding community around that same environment. Can’t recommend enough 5/5

Jonathan Kling: than some places get in a whole week!

Tim Tetrault: This is a great BJJ academy with an experienced professor and is filled with people dedicated to developing their game, fitness, and being solid training partners.

Dylan Kohl: This has been my first experience with bjj, everyone has been very kind and willing to help. It has been a great experience for me as a beginner.

本田雅一(ジャーナリスト): I had a wonderful experience at this gym when I traveled to Seattle from Tokyo. Friendly, not awe inspiring, and everyone enjoys the soft rolls. If you are a jiu-jitsu practitioner and visiting Seattle, I would definitely recommend stopping by. And if you live near Seattle, you are very lucky. I encourage you to knock on this gym's door.My friend who lives in Tokyo told me that there is no better place to travel to Seattle to practice. But that story is not correct. Because there is SJJA.I will be 57 years old this year. I am a Master 6 blue belt, and SJJA has welcomed me warmly.

J Westberg: Dropped in to the noon class when I was visiting seattle for a work conference. One of the “tells” I’ve figured out over my many years of training, of how good a school is, is how hard the students grip fight. These guys all grip fought like demons! I knew within five minutes I would be in a battle from white up to black. The training was wonderful and just what I needed after stumbling off a long cross country flight. The facility is clean and has a great layout. Dave was a great host and his students were all warm, friendly, and trained hard; within a few minutes of chatting with everyone I felt like I was at home. Highly recommend dropping in if you are an out-of-towner. Thanks, Dave and crew for being generous hosts. Hope to see you all again.

Ben A: Traveling to the Seattle area and was able to attend a Tuesday morning No-Gi class. The instructor was easy to understand and gave a wonderful step by step approach to the training.Everyone was super friendly and welcoming.

Rob: I was in town for a conference and stopped by Seattle Jiujitsu Academy to get some rounds in during their 6 p.m. class. The head instructor, Dave, has built up a crazy group of conditioned athletes! The instruction was great and there is a solid hour of rolling after the teaching is done. At least 12 five-minute rounds with 20 seconds between rounds. Everyone that I rolled with was very respectful and talented. I advise anyone dropping by make sure you practice defending collar sleeve!Looking forward to stopping by again the next time I am up in Seattle!

Andre Dayani: Top notch BJJ gym. I love this place. Professor Dave Stegman is a devoted lifelong student of martial arts and it shows in his teaching. He shares many wisdoms about training effectively and at the highest competitive levels. There are many patient upper belts that will take time with you as you’re developing your game as a white belt. The gym has a culture of safe practicing, and from what I’ve seen, egos are left at the door. If you want to learn to roll in a beautiful and clean space, come to SJJA, no doubt. You’ll get the most out of any practice when you commit, so if you do come train, come with your whole heart and stick with it!

Ken Lee: Coach Mt and training staff were very welcoming despite being my first time training outside of my hometown. Instructions were clear and rolls were very challenging. Would def be back

Zoo Hi: Very nice community!Definitely recommend this gym for anyone who wants to do cross training or visit from out state if you love rolling!

Martin Gonzalez: Awesome teaching, structure and vibes. I was from out of town looking to keep training. Professor Dave was very accommodating and welcoming. Definitely would recommend to out of towers and locals.

Jeremy Salazar: If you’re looking to challenge yourself mentally and physically this is the place to go. I’m visiting from out of town and everyone treated me great. The rolls were hard, but this team will make sure they take care of you and not hurt you. Amazing atmosphere! Thank you so much for having me!

Kirsten: Visiting Seattle from out of state and wanted to keep training. Highly recommend SJJA for training, fantastic instruction, and experience. Attended the early morning No-Gi class. Everyone was incredibly welcoming, instruction was fantastic, and we went through several different techniques. Thank you for having me! Will definitely be back.

Jimmy Crackers: Top notch Brazilian Jiu Jitsu from an instructor who cares. It's great moving up in belts, but only if you know what you're doing. If you move up a belt level here, you can be assured you know what you're doing against another person who knows BJJ. Not all places can say that.

Marcus S: Super nice school.. bunch of friendly killers.Came for the open mat and got 15 rounds in, everyone was very friendly and welcoming. Thanks again to the head instructor Dave !

Alpha Martial Arts LLC: what do users think?

Jennifer Ross: Alpha martial arts is awesome! My kids started classes here eight years ago, when they were in elementary school, on a whim because their cousins were doing karate and it looked fun. Looking back, this was one of the best life decisions we/they made in taking classes here. The instructors are top notch; attentive and patient. The kids have learned so many life skills, such as confidence, patience, determination, gratefulness, besides just self defense and karate. They've thrived and been successful, both earning their black belts and continuing to stay involved and continue their black belt journeys here. If you're still reading this review, thank you. I absolutely can't say enough great things about this place or recommend it highly enough.

Heather: We bought a trial karate membership for our 6 year old having no background in martial arts ourselves and wow were we in a for a fabulous surprise! The instructors here are truly incredible. The life lessons that they discuss at the beginning of each class are great for the adults listening too, and they are SO good with the kids. It's been astounding to watch over the course of a few months how a class of a bunch of little kids rolling around on the floor are patiently nudged into a group of aspiring students who are gaining precision with their body movements, gaining confidence, and have learned to be really respectful and helpful to one another all while having fun! We've been going twice a week for six months and plan to continue for years to come. It's truly inspiring and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about our experience.

Rosemary Adamson: AMA is fantastic! My daughter has been doing karate there for more than 4 years. She started in person before the pandemic, took online classes when AMA pivoted to online, has been back in person for months and is preparing to take her junior black belt test this month. The instructors are great and Mr Herrman is very responsive. I love that they teach karate and how to be an all-round good human. AMA gave my daughter a reliable activity and reliable role models during the pandemic, when not much else was reliable. I can’t say enough good things about AMA.

Heteng Zhang: Great school with knowledgeable and friendly instructors and community.

Leo Jaine: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality

Mark Voigts: Great staff, really care about the kids.

Kali Bergeron: Went to a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu course at a 1045AM as a beginner. The class was great! The instructor Chris is very patient. The class size was small, 4 people so lots of individual instruction and critique. I was told by the owner the evening Jiu-Jitsu courses are similar in size. If you are new to BJJ and want to try this, I highly recommend this facility. They didn't require a gi for the first class.

Katie Howells: have pushed me both mentally and physically in the best ways possible. Not to mention, all of those classes are great ways to get in shape. The coaching staff is incredibly motivating and supportive. Mr Herrman has created a wonderful atmosphere where everyone feels welcome and taken care of. I have continued going to Alpha, not only because of the rigorous workouts that are fun and challenging, but also because the community is simply irreplaceable. Whether you are looking to change up your workout routine, try something new, or just want a good kick in the butt, I could not recommend Alpha enough.

Gracie Barra Northeast Seattle: what do users think?

Alice Wang: I have been to a couple Gracie Barra locations due to my home being in Everett and my university being in Seattle, I can hands down confidently say that this location has the most welcoming and beginner-friendly community. The professor, Joel, is extremely patient and personable to each and every one of his students. The other more experienced students are always kind and open to helping newer people learn. Despite the gym being smaller in comparison to other Gracie Barra institutions, it is a wonderful environment with an experience truly like no other. Here, you are getting exactly what you are paying for. 100% would recommend to all those looking for a place to train, I love it here!

casey sowers: great place to train, good vibes and great training partners!

Noah Roth: I got to this academy and it is awesome.

Matt: Fantastic instructors, they are great at working with kids of all different ages and personality types. My son has gained a ton of confidence in his skills. Their monthly membership method of enrollment makes things easy on parents because you don’t have to reserve a spot in any one class session in advance, rather you can show up for as many or as few sessions per month as you want with no need to plan in advance about which sessions you will attend.
