The Elliott Bay Book Company: what do users think?

Richie Gowin: They sell mostly new, not used books. Be ready for regular priced books. The selection is great, all highlighted with plenty of personal recommendations scattered about. It’s nice and wide open with tall ceilings, so you feel like you have room to breathe. There’s definitely a reason it’s one of the top bookstores.

Will Oberst: Went to a book release party of a scifi novel base on of east asia had won the space race. Live music by the author, a great host, and home made food by the author's mom was an experience and a half.

Barrett Brooks: Delightful local bookshop with a coffee shop and huge book selection

Heejin Hwang: I was impressed by the handwritten recommendations for each recommended book. The bookstore has a nice atmosphere, so it's a great place to stop by. Just a souvenir? It was a pity that there wasn't much stationery.

Ashley Cates: Such great selection on every topic you can imagine!

Mick Dees (nomad.mick): Really great bookstore! So many books and well organized, and there’s a nice cafe inside.

Parriss Jones: Love this place!

Laetitia (Lee): adventure.

Ashley Castana: Great place for finding just about any book you need. Love the vibes

Left Bank Books Collective: what do users think?

Kate Powell: Excellent selection of graphic novels/comics, plus political theory, history, and gender studies, but even beyond their areas of focus, they always have something interesting I've never seen before or elsewhere.I personally really appreciated the mask policy, especially considering how hard it must be to ventilate that space.Customer service was excellent, and the vibes are immaculate.

Richard Bond: . Buy a book for yourself, get another for a prisoner

Renae Lynch: Shop here. Their selection is unmatched. They provide a delightful safe space in the neighbourhood ❤️💛🖤

Mars Jacobsen: Amazing selection of authors and titles! The poetry section was my favorite. I love poetry by trans authors, and there was plenty of new content to enjoy. I also really appreciate that masks are both required and provided. Even in 2024, it's an important part of community care, especially in a location that brings people from across the world to enjoy all that Seattle has to offer.

Mandy Gillis: My favorite bookstore in Pike Place Market! Super cute space with an incredible selection of LGBTQ books, in addition to other great reads. The sci-fi, fantasy, and non-fiction sections are fantastic!

Jillian Adams: Sweet lil, indie, book shop with anarchist, LGBTQIA+ support, great finds and a perfect way to ensure you can explore global views and perspectives. Love.

Nikita: Cool place, lots of zines in the back and I always come away with a new book I didn’t plan on reading

Syranda Wiley de Navarro: Really loved the selection in this bookstore!

Alice Garner: Amazing bookstore with the best decor and very friendly staff! I was sad they were out of the book selection I wanted but that’s ok! Great anarchist bookstore with a decent Black Studies selection too!!

The staff offered many recommendations depending on what books we were picking up to explore. They even told us about other Seattle stores to visit! Would visit again! Such a great stop for any book lover.

Johnathan Day: Nice employee's and great selection. Lots of first additions and hard to find books. Will recommend and return.

Vivian K: Ophelia's is my favorite bookstore in Seattle in terms of charm. The shop is decorated with homey trinkets and full of well-loved books. They have several used books in near-perfect condition at great prices. The one thing I did notice is the space isn't very accessible- with narrow isles and a steep spiral staircase. If accessibility isn't a concern for you, I recommend checking this place out!

Brittany Kelly: Fun store, great selection, such a kind staff!

Sten: Great inventory of well-priced and cared for books. We enjoyed looking through the many shelves and levels of this quaint bookstore.

Trade paperbacks and graphic novels, sci-fi and fantasy isle, and rare and out of print books behind the front counter. They are regularly buying used collections, so what happens to be on hand at any given time changes from week to week.

Gabriel Kabar Trust-Bolack: A historic landmark in my humble opinion. This bookstore used to reside in the U-District. Lots of sweet felines roam languidly about the store. Great place to find a story to get lost within.

Jesse S.: the cat who seem to love people. Love having this wonderful place in the neighborhood.

Colleen Cavanaugh: Lots of books around. Not well organized. There are a lot of trip hazards in the place and it does smell like a cat lives there. I've been in other bookstores with cats and you wouldn't even know they were there.

Lion Heart Book Store: what do users think?

Jeremy Webster: Great selection of rare and beautiful literature. I picked up the Tao Te Ching. It changes things if you read Tao as path. Thank you for sharing it with me.

Karma: Great store! Has $1.00 books too ❤️

Trinity The Tuck: Cute book store. Fun location!

Daniel Smith: Love it! Nice little store with a large selection. Friendly and helpful staff. I will say, some signage in Pike Place Market on the ground floor or near entrances would be helpful, as it was a little difficult to locate when the suite # starts with a 5 and the floor the bookstore is on is 4.

Amanda C.: Very cute store with a nice selection. Stop in!

Kris C.: The owner welcomes you and offers direction. I have found some reads along with postcards with lovely art displayed on them here! Bookmarks, journals, and postcards are a must to tie together a bookstore and they're found here. This is a small, quirky little bookstore that you must walk into while in the Pike Place area!

Epic Heart Healing: Highly recommend this charming bookstore. It has an awesome assortment of titles to choose from. Above all, the atmosphere and the owner are vibrant, friendly, whimsical, and welcoming! My husband and I loved visiting this past week and meeting the owner David and browsing through the books! What a lovely bookshop. Also, his books are very reasonably priced. Visiting Lion Heart was our favorite part of this weekend. Check it out! You'll be glad you did!!!!

Angel Olmos: I LOVE bookshops and this is the first one I stumbled past on my trips to Seattle, so I peaked my head in. What happened next was the nicest man poked his head out from behind the counter and greeted me with the most kindness and generosity I would’ve never expected from a stranger. Never before had I met a person with such a bubbly and upbeat personality than him. He regaled me tales of all the books I took interest in, and he was very knowledgeable on just about everything. Unfortunately, I left the store wanting to pick up some Camus but he had just sold his last copy the day before. Despite not buying a thing he was appreciative of me stopping by and hoped I’d stop by again. So two years later, that’s what I did. Out of all the time that had passed one memory stood out to me from pike place, and it was this very bookstore. So I’m my return I went looking for it and lo and behold that same upbeat demeanor found me again. I exchanged pleasantries and he greeted me in that same pleasant attitude. This time however was different, he had Camus! So I stocked up on the books I wanted and with great appreciation sent me on my way. It was fate that I saw him again, recently his mother had become Ill-and so he hasn’t been able to be open all the time, and that’s partly a reason why i believe he enforces a mask policy at his store but it’s a small price to pay for the livelihood of his family and those around him and that’s something I can deeply respect. Rarely do you meet a person who stays in your head over such a tumultuous time and I have got to tell you, this is one such person and place I highly recommend you stop by and do you your shopping at.

Alexander Cole: Came to Seattle for new years. My favorite part was meeting David, the store's owner. We had a lovely chat about the book I purchased. But the most valuable thing I left with was the interaction. Will definitely be coming in here everytime I'm in town.

Neel Venugopal: The owner has a glowing personality and can answer any question you have about anything in the store. Truly a great experience, and can't recommend it enough if you like walking in book stores.

Brian Rowe: Cozy bookstore with a friendly worker behind the counter. I got 3 interesting books for less than $15! My new fav local bookshop.

David Parajon: Buy books here when in Seattle.

Kyle Langston: Great store, good selection and a fun overall experience. The shopkeeper, David, is very friendly and enjoys chatting with people and getting to know you. Definitely check it out if you’re in the Pike Place Market area!

Kyle Giddings: The store owner is the gem of Seattle, the books are great as well.

Jane Doe: Absolutely adored both the owner and the store! Great collection of books, including- Amish romances. Loved the owner, a fabulous experience

B L M F Literary Saloon: what do users think?

eric williams: It’s been years since I lived in Seattle, but what I remember the most is the used bookstores. On a recent visit, I discovered the Literary Saloon, and I was reminded that there really are the most amazing used bookstores there.Mr. Johnson is the most masterful curator/literary merchant I have encountered on my most recent trip. He was happy to help, but really happy to let me look through every single pile like a crazy completist freak. Please, must be seen to be believed. If you are a thoughtful, smart, and widely read…this is where you will likely lose two hours of your vacation in the essays section.

--: . I spent an hour viewing different books, which felt doable with the smaller space and foot traffic from many visitors coming and going. Folks with mobility issues may or may not be able to have adequate space to move around in the store. I was not disappointed by the titles I came across, so it looked like there was something for many people to enjoy and pique their interest. The owner was welcoming and chill, they would walk around the store to ask if customers were finding everything ok and offering assistance. There was no overbearing tone or sarcasm from them, they were just a literary saloon owner who wanted to help. I appreciated that, and found many titles to add to my wishlist for a future visit and for purchase. I even got a free B L M F themed bookmark with the book that I bought, which I thought was a nice gesture. The condition of the store was clean, the floors were swept regularly, so the only things left on the ground were mats and books overflowing from the shelves. To me, B L M F Literary Saloon is a book haven and is up there with the bookstores that I have visited, easily in my top five. I will definitely do business here in the future, thank you so much for an excellent experience!

Amanda C.: When you walk in and it’s almost floor to ceiling books, you know it’s going to be good. The best kind of maze and some really cool and interesting books.

Matt Barnes: Stopped by while visiting Pike Place. They had a wide selection of graphic novels, which really surprised me, and I left with some great reads!

Stephan Gonzalez: This is the best store I have visited in years! Wasn’t looking for anything but found something at a wonderful price. The store clerk knows where everything is, very nice guy. A must visit.

Damon Hawk: stories. Thought you’d be interested!

Steven Morris: The fella in the store helped us find local authors, going in depth about their significance and a description of their stories. Great place!

Karin D.: . I found several books to purchase, which is quite the feet considering my current TBR pile. We will definitely visit again!

Ranjani Srinivasan: Cute second hand bookstore. Can find most titles you're looking for, but runs a little pricey in my opinion. Each book is priced ~ 60% of the original price.

Jane Wallis: A fabulous place, lovely selection, and a unique, wonderful and helpful curator. Great music playing, chill ambience. Could have spent all day here.

Bill Richards: Lovely place, love second hand book places with bloody friendly staff

Ada's Technical Books and Cafe: what do users think?

Santhosh Ganesh: Love coming here for the books, puzzles and Malabar tea. Book clubs are awesome too

Cheyenne Tyler: I've been going to Ada's on and off for years. Recently started stopping by regularly and attending their monthly game nights in the Lab.Their staff is so sweet and welcoming, and the whole place feels very comfy and queer-friendly/safe.They have great summer drinks and seasonal pastries right now. Low-key in love with their newest one, the raspberry croissant. It's the closest thing I've found to a decent raspberry cronut since leaving San Francisco 🥐

Joe Walp: Ada's offers a small selection of high quality loose teas. They're mindful of appropriate water temperatures and steeping times. If you order a pot, they'll gladly offer a second infusion. I particularly enjoyed their Kodama Sencha, which has melon notes. Their seating can be suitable for reading while sipping; however, you may find that nearby conversations or their music with vocals to be distracting depending on the nature of your reading material.

Girish Shekhar: One of my favorite places in Seattle. Great coffee and an amazing selection of books. You can spend the entire day reading, sipping on coffee and enjoying some delicious baked goods.

Valli Dologlou: Amazing science bookstore and Cafe. If the weather is nice try the little porch in the back!

Alex Lofton: This shop is pure magic. Like, I walked in and the curation of books was everything I ever wanted to read. Found myself overwhelmed at times at just how much I wanted to pick up and delve into, knowing I can only go one book at a time! And there was such a genuine community feel in the air. Even for into an impromptu deep philosophical convo with one of the staff members. Love this place!

Adam Woodworth: In this decade, a good bookstore is known for it's curated book selection. It tells you who they are. The character of this place is unimpeachable. It's clever, it's classy, it's like hanging out in the home of your smartest friend who always has something new to show you. Except my smartest friend was never so tidy. The staff is diverse, friendly, and charming. Tip them well please. The book selection ranges from graphic novels to technical manuals about obscure programming languages. There are some comfortable tables with clever contents in their shadow-box-table-tops. Have you ever seen a table light up when you put your bag on it? Have you ever seen a hundred compasses go crazy when your phone vibrates? There's supposed to be an office loft, but I haven't found it yet.I hesitate to mention that there's an attached bar with regular social gatherings. Look, it's a super nice spot and I don't want it to get too crowded, okay? Try and and keep it a secret 😉.
