Kamakura Japanese Cuisine and Sushi: what do users think?

Emily Goodin: As soon as our family entered the restaurant we were offered a choice between the regular menu and the vegan menu. We are all vegetarian so of course we selected the vegan menu. It had a HUGE array of interesting options in every category. We ordered six items and all were excellent. The barley tea was basic but tasty and warm. We love ginger so the big bowl of it on the table was especially appreciated. Staff were professional, and helpful in explaining their options. I wish we lived closer to Seattle so we could visit more often. Highly recommended!

Sushi Samurai: what do users think?

Haley Brown: IT'S NOT FISH! It looks like fish and the texture is firm like fish, but when you see it irl you can tell it doesn't quite catch the light the same way, and the flavor is lacking the distinctive taste that salmon has, and the deep buttery flavor of tuna. However, the rolls we got were all very flavorful and well-prepared. I especially liked the crunchy salmon roll, I think is what it was. And the one we got with tempura "shrimp". The seaweed salad was delicious too. I would definitely like to come back.

Victoria H: I am so grateful to have this vegan sushi place in Seattle and glad to have been able to dine here! We will be back! The experience was absolutely amazing. Everything from the customer service to the sushi was excellent! The atmosphere is very casual and laid back. I loved the vibe!I had the crunchy shrimp sushi and it was delicious. My wife and I also had other types of sushi as well. I am vegetarian, but I am also allergic to shellfish, so I am glad I found this place so that I can have a plant based shellfish taste. The sushi did not appear vegan or taste vegan, and the taste was awesome!I highly recommend Sushi Samurai! We also loved Mio the robot who assists the servers. She is so cute!Vegetarian options: 100% plant based and vegan!

Ajay C J: Sushi Samurai is a delightful little restaurant that left me pleasantly surprised. I was amazed to find plant-based options for tuna, salmon, and shrimp on the menu. While I've never tried the real seafood, the plant-based alternatives were surprisingly delicious.Every dish we ordered was excellent. We started with the flavorful Miso soup and edamame. The Katana Roll, Ring of Fire, and Crispy Shrimp Rolls were all highlights of the meal. Overall, the food was fantastic. The prices were reasonable, and the ambiance was enhanced by the novelty of having a robot food runner. It was an experience worth trying out.One small note: The Kimchi Roll was decent, but not as impressive as the other dishes.

Wasabi Sushi & Izakaya: what do users think?

MiikkaThePinkPuma: Physical menus were hard to read with the dim lights but other than that it was amazing! Food was delicious, server was nice and helpful!! Vibe of the place was very nice!Dietary restrictions: I am gluten free and they worked well to make sure my meal was good!!Kid-friendliness: Very flexible with the kiddo we had with us!

Elise McHenry: Sunday was my second time eating at Wasabi. They have the most amazing sushi primarily due to the medley of flavors. Don't get me wrong though, I had some sashimi my first time that were the most unique flavors I've had of sushi. The sashimi was also nice and thickly cut. The standouts are all the rolls, though. Unique rolls that other places don't have with ingredients and sauces that perfectly compliment each other.Huge props to Ryan, our waiter who was extremely knowledgeable about every item on the menu. It's a big menu, so I was extremely impressed with how much he knew. He was also very kind and attentive.

Jace M: The food was fantastic, great presentation too. Service was a little slow throughout the night but pleasant and accommodating when available.

J Em: My brother and I took our sister to Wasabi for her birthday based on a recommendation from the staff from Chihuly Garden and Glass and we’re so glad we went. Incredible atmosphere, amazing food in great portions and our server Jennie was attentive, kind and really made our experience feel curated and bespoke. We didn’t have to wait long for any food or drinks and we loved how easy it was to order and how many great options they had on their happy hour menu. Can’t wait to take my man here on date night.

Siddhi Murkar: We have been there multiple times and love the Tempura. The calamari fry was refreshing with the veggies.Personally, all my experiences with seating have been bad. Each time I have requested some table that's not at a corner void of all the ambience experience, I've been told there's no space otherwise. This time specifically I saw two tables empty, but was told that that space is over occupied and had to crunch in a very small table for 2 between huge groups, with one chair facing the washroom. Within 5 minutes of we sitting, some other couple was provided the same table we asked for. This has happened all the times I've been to this space which makes us feel unwelcome.

I Love Sushi on Lake Union: what do users think?

Nicola Kalderash: , but went to their South Lake Union location and was pleased. The Skip Jack Tuna of my rainbow roll was a bit disappointing and something I've never experienced in their fish. It was kinda fridge and fishy tasting.Otherwise the rest was quite tasty including the Gindarra

A R: Parking: Never had issues getting one of their free spots. Did go today and it seemed like all the other cars that were parked in them were not dining there.Kid-friendliness: Provided the kids utensils and bowls.

A Google User: Higher than average quality sushi. Try their otoro and chutoro.

Musashi's: what do users think?

Munsy Man: The nigiri dinner pieces are HUGE!

Charlie Depman: Makes me want to move closer to make this my local spot. Amazing sushi at reasonable prices - wish I could eat more in one sitting. The nigiri were more generous than I was expecting. The atmosphere is pretty barebones and you order at the front but overall it comes across as charming and you’re really there for the incredible fish. 100% will go back and would recommend.

William Yang: Got Musashi’s for takeout. Really decent portions for the price, and very, very generous with the sushi rice. At some point my tongue became numb to the flavors, it was just an onslaught of fish and rice, but getting a chirashi here is less about a fine dining gastronomical experience and more about a sizable chunk of decent quality fish at a reasonable price.

Wook Chung: It's been 12 years since I last visited Musashi's. Back then, it was genuinely a joy to enjoy a wholesome bowl of chirashi for a mere $15. The best value sashimi ever. In 2024, I was surprised to discover that Musashi's was still open! The tiny restaurant, that only accepts cash, survived COVID.And yes, the food is amazing as ever. The same chirashi is now $18, but again, jam packed with value. I was surprised they had only raised it by $3 over a decade. Fresh fish well cut, jam packed with value and flavor. The sukiyaki bowl was also well done with tender and fatty meat cuts. And yes, theses would be one of the fattest California rolls.Again, Musashi's is all about value and serves the local UW community well. The only downside is that because the store is so small with so few tables, your experience is practically destroyed by rambunctious neighboring tables.Oh, and they accept credit card now. Finally! If you haven't yet experienced Musashi's, it's time you do. Avoid the crowd and pick slightly off times.Parking: Good luck finding parking. You'll have to go to parallel streets and see if you can secure a spot. Very very tough.

Matthew “Buck” Buck: Great as always! Amazing food. The prices have increased here, but i feel that the quality and size of the pieces of the fish make it totally worth it. I wish they were closer to my house. My one MAJOR concern is that in a to-go order, they put factory packets of soy directly on top of my freshly cut raw fish... 😞 ... there is no way that they are sanitizing each soy packet before they drop it directly on raw fish. That means that on top of my raw fish is everything that that packet has touched since the factory.... GROSS! PLEASE CHANGE THAT PRACTICE! PLEASE!

Moontree Sushi And Tapas: what do users think?

Rachel Miller: . I do enjoy tuna and salmon raw so went with the salmon carpaccio while he got the nigiri platter and we loved it all! That sauce with the salmon was divine! We will be back again when we have things to do in the area since we live in south Seattle. Thank you!

Athenas Canal: and this place was on top of the list on seafood restaurants I have been to. The way they mixed flavors and the food is majestic. I wished I could try everything in the menu because everything was delicious. The servers were great and attentive too. The environment was okay, everyone minding their own business. I had a great experience and left totally satisfied. I highly recommend this place.

Kisaku Sushi: what do users think?

Tracy Tran: Our chef Richard and his teammate that night were amazing! We did Omakase at the sushi bar and felt so taken care of. His mastery and creativity with his fish combos was amazing. Every bite exceeded the last one we had and I didn’t think it could keep getting better. Loved the yellow jack, uni, the ora king salmon, toro flight. The prices were so affordable for something that you would find in even the fanciest edomae places right now. I had 19 pieces and it was less than $100! The vibes in the restaurant were neighborhood-y and fun.I will 100% be back. If you go ask to sit with Richard!

Ginte La: Ok Japanese restaurant with attentive service and decent dishes.

Aoki Sushi & Grill: what do users think?

Oksana Dudaryeva: Recommended dishes Roll

Richard Ellis: . The Sea serpent roll was a huge hit with everyone. The only “ify” was the gyoza. It was actually more like Korean Yakimando and deep fried; not a gyoza at all. I didn’t care for it but the first time eater would think it’s good. Our “picky” eater friend refused to eat any fish and was hesitant to even try Japanese food - I suggested the Tonkatsu Bento Box and she liked it. Overall, a nice experience with good customer service and a pleasant enough atmosphere. If you live nearby or in the Capital Hill area, consider this place. We will likely never go back as we live on the other side of the sound but if we happen to be nearby and need our Japanese fix, we would definitely go back! Support this small business!!! Under new ownership

Sam Meade: Aoki is an unassuming, utilitarian sushi restaurant. They have consistent business, so the fish is always fresh, never fishy. I've been going there for several years and have never had any other than good experiences whether it was to go or eating at the restaurant. My son always gets the katsu bento plate, which is always tasty. Their miso soup is standard, good. I don't know what they do with their escolar ngiri, but it's magic. I think they paint a little bit of sesame oil on top, It is my favorite thing. There. The crunch roll and don't cry roll are both excellent. Anytime. I'm at a sushi restaurant. I get albacore ngiri as well, and it is always excellent. I have also had the agadashi tofu, and it was quite good. As a creature of habit, I don't really order many other different things, But suffice to say, Aoki is a safe bet for good sushi, served with a smile at a good price. Hope you guys are always up there on Broadway for me and my family!

Kwak Family: Quite nicely decorated restaurant with reasonably priced meal options. Staff were attentive and courteous.Miso soup was a bit saltier than should have been but with good flavor and portion. The rest of the orders were good, with larger portions in general than typical. I would suggest using a slightly higher oil temperature for the fried food to make it crisper and less oily.Good value and pleasant experience!

Melyssa May: Got the geisha roll and hamachi sashimi for w a quick bite. It was super fresh and beautifully prepared.

Camille L: and would leave a note at the door. Usually their online ordering site would say if they are open or not, but I would advise calling ahead first to make sure they are open and you can get your sushi fix.

Rachel Choi: and his mother, please let me know.Im a korean and my name is Rachel choi

Zoe: . Highly recommend checking this cute hole-in-the-wall spot out if you are craving takeout sushi.5 pieces sushi w/ roll

Alex Golub: Fantastic sushi here. I got the salmon avocado roll and the salmon nigiri, and both were incredible. Many sushi places in the area tend to skimp a bit on salmon, but not here. Good, hearty pieces of salmon that tasted fresh and delicious. They were also very friendly when I went to pick up my food. Great prices for caphill area sushi as well. Would strongly recommend.

august M: SUSHI MAKI IS THE BEST !!! i have been coming here since 2015, and it’s easily become my favorite sushi spot in all of seattle. min and jin, the owners, are absolute sweeties and put so much hard work into their business. their small takeout-only shop is cozy and welcoming with a friendly atmosphere, and even friendlier service. food is ready quick, and never compromises on quality, the sushi is extremely consistent and delicious. i like to order the salmon lover’s combo, with a side of avocado roll - i don’t trust the nigiri at most sushi places but the cut of fish is always perfect at sushi maki. i could not recommend this place enough, and always tell out-of-town friends to stop by if they’re in the capitol hill area. i love you sushi maki ❤️

Ioana: Truly delicious food, great variety, and the staff was so kind, polite and helpful! Especially with our 2 year old who had a great time and loved the food. Can’t wait to go back, this may just become our regular sushi/ bento spot !

Halfpipe Malos: , highly recommend.Good prices for rolls, comparable to other sushi places in the area.Service was great too! You order at the counter, and food came out incredibly fast.Wheelchair accessibility: Door is at street level, dining area is roomy enough for space for wheelchair to be easily made. Only one front door, so getting in may be a squeeze

Emily A.: I travel an hour just to come here. That's how good it is. The salmon sashimi is so fresh. I love this place. 😍

Adam Jones: I was the only diner at 7pm in what's undoubtedly a hidden sushi gem. The sushi tuna platter was a revelation, each bite a perfect melody of flavors. And the caterpillar roll? A delightful surprise, with its creamy avocado wrapping and succulent unagi. It's a mystery how such culinary excellence remains undiscovered. The place oozes charm, the service is top-notch, and the food? Simply sublime.Let's not keep this secret any longer. It's time to rally and give this place the bustling atmosphere it deserves. Whether it's a night out with friends or a special date, make this your next stop. Trust me, your taste buds will be forever grateful.

Daniel Cabada: Such a great place! The lady gave us great service. Food was amazing!

Richard Harlan: Wonderful rolls and dishes, cozy atmosphere and an amazing staff that was trying really hard to be nice to our 15 month old. He just was too shy and was unhappy. But they were extremely nice !!Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly staff!!!!

MICHAEL MCKAY: , and we were absolutely impressed with the freshness of the fish, and the quality of the cuts. A couple of non-nigiri stand outs included the delicious shrimp shumai and one of the chef's appetizers, that had several fishes, avocado, and more all in one tasty bite, and the Aburi tower is a can't miss.. We had some great toro, scallop carpaccio, uni, I could go on. If you are in the market and want some really fresh and tasty food in a non-touristy environment, this is the place.

Kamei Japanese Restaurant: what do users think?

Marco: which was my favorite dish. The curry-don was really good too. There was no bad dish. Prices were also reasonable. Definitely worth the stop.Parking: There’s a decent amount of free 2hr street parking in front

Munch Kin: , we won't be able to come back again. My partner is allergic to msg and one of the people who worked in the kitchen warned us that they use msg in a lot of things. It never gave him issues before so we thought it would be okay.It seems they changed how they cook though. The food still tasted amazing, especially the sashimi and the Tuna on Snowshoe? I think that's what it's called. But there was also so much msg in the food that couldn't be separated from everything else that my partner got a nasty migraine. And this was with them aware of his allergy and changing what they could. This really does hurt because this was *our* place. It was one of our first dates and where I proposed to him. But I just can't put him through the migraines anymore.- - -OriginalAs amazing as ever! We had the Sushi-Ya and asked for sake to be paired with each dish. There's the option of more common dishes like tuna and salmon or more exotic dishes, and we chose a mix. They managed to have a great balance, though I don't recommend the exotic options unless you're feeling truly adventurous. Amongst seered cod and King Salmon sashimi, we had shrimp heads that had the exoskeleton removed

Maggie McLouth: After an incredibly difficult month and a half following the unexpected passing of my father, and going through this grief while in graduate school, my husband and I needed a nice evening out. We had been to Mashiko before, but it had been several years. We love Japanese food, and Mashiko in general, so we happily sprung for the sushi-ya omakase dinner with sake pairing. If I had video of the happy chair dance I did whenever Mat, our server, brought out our food, I would include it here. Everything was delicious, the sake pairings were excellent, and I was able to relax and have some quality time with my husband for the first time in a while. The restaurant is intimate but still private and not overly-loud. The food is fairly priced given the focus on sustainability. I have never had a bad experience here, but this one made me so happy I wanted to share. Eating good food can be a healing experience, and tonight it certainly was. Thank you Mat and the wonderful chefs!

Sayd Hussain: Удивительные сушиОсобый путь шеф-повараКокосовый пирог очень вкусный

Diana J.: I guess this is more about my personal taste, since obviously this place is popular. If you love traditional japanese food like me, stick to the raw sashimi. We ordered the popular Emperor's signature roll and chirashi bowl. They put tobiko on top of slice jalapeno on the roll. Totally kill the mild flavor that I love about tobiko. The yuzu sauce is good but also kill the sushi flavor. I think fusion is not for me. The chirashi bowl was okay, standard. I may come back for other dishes.
