Diana J.: I guess this is more about my personal taste, since obviously this place is popular. If you love traditional japanese food like me, stick to the raw sashimi. We ordered the popular Emperor's signature roll and chirashi bowl. They put tobiko on top of slice jalapeno on the roll. Totally kill the mild flavor that I love about tobiko. The yuzu sauce is good but also kill the sushi flavor. I think fusion is not for me. The chirashi bowl was okay, standard. I may come back for other dishes.

Marco: I’ve now been three time times and love it! More importantly, their happy hour is the best since it’s also on the weekends. Solid food, great atmosphere and awesome service. Their casino roll and their halibut cheeks are my favorite. On their happy hour menu, the poke bowl is freaking tasty for a perfect price. I highly recommend their leeche martini too! I don’t recommend their spicy ginger chicken though.
Anushka M: Delicious rolls and noodles! 12th Ave roll and the yakisoba noodles were amazing and definitely a favorite from our group. The noodles were spicy and very flavorful. The 12th Ave roll was delicious with shrimp tempura and spicy tuna. We also ordered the Madison roll but weren’t huge fans of it. Other things we ordered were the miso soup, rainbow roll, and the crunchy cali roll. Service was great and the food came out fast. We also ordered the jasmine tea and hibiscus berry tea. The center garden area in the restaurant is beautiful and the overall ambiance is very calm and inviting. Overall a great dinner!

I think that's what it's called. But there was also so much msg in the food that couldn't be separated from everything else that my partner got a nasty migraine. And this was with them aware of his allergy and changing what they could.This really does hurt because this was *our* place. It was one of our first dates and where I proposed to him. But I just can't put him through the migraines anymore.- - -OriginalAs amazing as ever! We had the Sushi-Ya and asked for sake to be paired with each dish. There's the option of more common dishes like tuna and salmon or more exotic dishes, and we chose a mix. They managed to have a great balance, though I don't recommend the exotic options unless you're feeling truly adventurous. Amongst seered cod and King Salmon sashimi, we had shrimp heads that had the exoskeleton removed
Maggie McLouth: After an incredibly difficult month and a half following the unexpected passing of my father, and going through this grief while in graduate school, my husband and I needed a nice evening out. We had been to Mashiko before, but it had been several years. We love Japanese food, and Mashiko in general, so we happily sprung for the sushi-ya omakase dinner with sake pairing. If I had video of the happy chair dance I did whenever Mat, our server, brought out our food, I would include it here. Everything was delicious, the sake pairings were excellent, and I was able to relax and have some quality time with my husband for the first time in a while. The restaurant is intimate but still private and not overly-loud. The food is fairly priced given the focus on sustainability. I have never had a bad experience here, but this one made me so happy I wanted to share. Eating good food can be a healing experience, and tonight it certainly was. Thank you Mat and the wonderful chefs!

Elise McHenry: Sunday was my second time eating at Wasabi. They have the most amazing sushi primarily due to the medley of flavors. Don't get me wrong though, I had some sashimi my first time that were the most unique flavors I've had of sushi. The sashimi was also nice and thickly cut. The standouts are all the rolls, though. Unique rolls that other places don't have with ingredients and sauces that perfectly compliment each other.Huge props to Ryan, our waiter who was extremely knowledgeable about every item on the menu. It's a big menu, so I was extremely impressed with how much he knew. He was also very kind and attentive.

Siddhi Murkar: We have been there multiple times and love the Tempura. The calamari fry was refreshing with the veggies.Personally, all my experiences with seating have been bad. Each time I have requested some table that's not at a corner void of all the ambience experience, I've been told there's no space otherwise. This time specifically I saw two tables empty, but was told that that space is over occupied and had to crunch in a very small table for 2 between huge groups, with one chair facing the washroom. Within 5 minutes of we sitting, some other couple was provided the same table we asked for. This has happened all the times I've been to this space which makes us feel unwelcome.

Kaela Jiron: Had an amazing sushi dinner here last night. Great ambiance, great food, we will be going back. My group ordered Mixed Mushroom Batayaki, Spicy tuna crispy rice, and Takoyaki for appetizers. All of which were delicious, the Takoyaki could have used more octopus and was a little mushy but had great flavor and was delicious if you only had 1 or 2 balls. For sushi we ordered Monte Ca, Moshi Moshi, Spicy Bomb, and Tuna Love. All of which we will order again. The Spicy Bomb I 10/10 recommend, we might get two of next time. The torched tops of the roll adds an amazing flavor.

Emily Goodin: As soon as our family entered the restaurant we were offered a choice between the regular menu and the vegan menu. We are all vegetarian so of course we selected the vegan menu. It had a HUGE array of interesting options in every category. We ordered six items and all were excellent. The barley tea was basic but tasty and warm. We love ginger so the big bowl of it on the table was especially appreciated. Staff were professional, and helpful in explaining their options. I wish we lived closer to Seattle so we could visit more often. Highly recommended!

Alex Golub: Fantastic sushi here. I got the salmon avocado roll and the salmon nigiri, and both were incredible. Many sushi places in the area tend to skimp a bit on salmon, but not here. Good, hearty pieces of salmon that tasted fresh and delicious. They were also very friendly when I went to pick up my food. Great prices for caphill area sushi as well. Would strongly recommend.
august M: SUSHI MAKI IS THE BEST !!! i have been coming here since 2015, and it’s easily become my favorite sushi spot in all of seattle. min and jin, the owners, are absolute sweeties and put so much hard work into their business. their small takeout-only shop is cozy and welcoming with a friendly atmosphere, and even friendlier service. food is ready quick, and never compromises on quality, the sushi is extremely consistent and delicious. i like to order the salmon lover’s combo, with a side of avocado roll - i don’t trust the nigiri at most sushi places but the cut of fish is always perfect at sushi maki. i could not recommend this place enough, and always tell out-of-town friends to stop by if they’re in the capitol hill area. i love you sushi maki ❤️

Max Ferris: Came here for lunch during restaurant week, I was a little hesitant about the fixed menu but I'm glad I tried it. The flavors were fantastic, and they were exploratory but still familiar enough to be delicious. There were a lot of little details done right, from having the salad leaves evenly coated in dressing, to the perfect thickness of the meat and fish slices. You could tell a lot of care was put into the food at every level. The waitstaff was friendly and approachable, and it seemed like they enjoyed what they do. All in all, I was a little intimidated by the menu since I'm not really a foodie, but it was a rich experience that reminded me of how good a meal can be.

Jacki Adams: I would include pictures of the food but I never seem to stop long enough to take them before INHALING the food.I come to Matsu any chance I get despite living an hour away.Everything about it is so consistent. Starting with the food. Amazing sushi that always tastes so fresh. I’ve never had a bad dish here before and I’ve eaten here many times. Their food is great during a normal night, the night after Megan Rapinoe’s retirement where there was a line out the door, and at happy hour.But it’s not just the food that’s great. Their staff is consistently friendly and SO good. I’m not saying that in a generic “you don’t wait 40 minutes for your check” way. If your plate is empty, it’s whisked away in a few minutes. Water glass empty? Not for long. Cocktail depleted? You’re quickly asked if you’d like another. It’s really high end level service that usually comes with a restaurant triple the cost.And the last thing I have to include is that their happy hour feels criminal. I recently enjoyed two bourbon cocktails, a 5 piece sushi sampler, two sushi rolls, and the complementary edamame for $45 before tip. That is such a great deal for this incredible level of service.If you love really high end dining, I absolutely recommend Matsu.
Vito Reviews: First off, we were really pleasantly surprised by Matsu. Being so close to the stadium I fully expected mediocre sushi served at cramped tables. The space itself is beautiful, Japanese inspired but also gives steakhouse vibes. The service here was fantastic, everyone we interacted with was polite and engaging. There was visible management both on the floor and in the kitchen which so rate these days. The sushi was all very fresh - we cleaned our plates. My only criticism is there’s no way you’re eating here when there’s a concert or game unless you’ve got an in, we’ll just have to become known regulars I guess.
Jason Lee: They have the best happy hour sushi deals. The fact that you can get an exceptional old fashioned for only $8 is a steal. I can’t wait to go again.

Dakota Lee: Regarding sushi in the Ballard neighborhood, there are few options, let alone good ones. Billy Beach Sushi & Bar stands tall above the rest. The food was excellent, and it is one of the few restaurants I've been to in Seattle that offers pressed oshi-zushi. The quality of the fish was high, and the portions were large, which justified the prices for me. The meal's highlight was the amaebi and the expertly battered fried heads. I will return here whenever I'm in the neighborhood and looking for quality sushi.

Jerelyn: Very flavorful and delicious food with various vegan options. The server was kind and friendly. The atmosphere was alright, with calming instrumental music. Dine-in was not busy at all during afternoon hours on a Wednesday. Parking is limited. The Seattle neighborhood seems sketchy but they can't really control that. Overall it was a great experience. Leah Moss: Amazing! Must get the fried chicken appetizer—the veggie chick was so flavorful! Thai iced tea and boba smoothies were very good. Also had the fresh spring rolls. My boys shared a pad Thai and ate it all. I had the beef king pao and hubby ordered the chicken king pao. Left so full and happy that we chose this spot. Great for vegetarians and meat eaters!!

MICHAEL MCKAY: , and we were absolutely impressed with the freshness of the fish, and the quality of the cuts. A couple of non-nigiri stand outs included the delicious shrimp shumai and one of the chef's appetizers, that had several fishes, avocado, and more all in one tasty bite, and the Aburi tower is a can't miss.. We had some great toro, scallop carpaccio, uni, I could go on. If you are in the market and want some really fresh and tasty food in a non-touristy environment, this is the place.
