The lady who took my payment gave me a glare when I didn't leave a tip on my payment, so that was obvious...but of course I left a $10 tip in cash for Tao. Anywho, I recommend Tao she was great. Beauteous Entity: I was kind of skeptical, wen I first took my boys in to get a haircut. Simply becuz we r BLACK! I started goin back in the summer and we have not left them ever since! Now honey, on the 1st cuts, I culda kicked the ladies a**, but I then realized, if u dont tell them exactly wat u want, or dont show them a pic of how u want it, they will mess ur ish up! 2nd round, and I only went bac becuz the price is right, I and the hairstylists learned our lessons, for me not to get cussed out in Chinese, becuz of their poor performance, and for me not to cuss them out in Niggaese for not given me my money back, we now work together as a team. But I live in NYC now and haven't been to VAIN in 17 yrs. Just as great of vibes and everyone there was super cool and friendly. Everyone else looked happy and their hair was cool.

Mariam Hale: , and she was so patient and considerate and such a good listener - she asked questions to clarify what I wanted, and checked in with me throughout the appointment, and it turned out amazing! I got a short, layered, pixie cut, with some fun details, which I think I could happily wear for the rest of my life. I mentioned that I like to keep my hair pretty low maintenance, and Maritza cut in in a style that doesn't need any styling or product to look just right. It not only looks super sharp and flattering when it's freshly cut, but it grows out beautifully, so I can go four or five months between appointments, and enjoy a shaggier look while still feeling confident that it looks good. And when it's time to get it cut I just show up at Vain, knowing that I'll get to spend an hour chatting with Maritza, and leave with a haircut that not only makes me look good, but makes me feel like the best version of myself.

Had a loose idea of the vibe I wanted but no real vision for the cut; came in for a consult and she had some lovely ideas and a super clear vision that aligned perfectly with what I wanted. Came back shortly after and she did a lovely job on the cut. It was definitely a departure for my usual style but I'm very happy with it. Also helped me immensely with how to keep my hair healthy, as that's something I struggle with, and had some great product recommendations. This was my first professional haircut in years

Hannah H.: I rarely leave reviews but it needs to be known that Robin at Chroma salon is amazing. I have gotten my hair and bangs cut by her about 4 times, this last time I decided to cut off a lot. No matter the haircut I come in looking for Robin is patient, listens and will do everything in her power to make sure you walk away happy. Have already recommended her to my friends.

I originally came in after a bad foilage experience and she spent 11+ hours with me over two days doing a correction that turned out incredibly well. Needless to say, she was my gal from there on forward. She’s now done balayage, all over bleach from a balayage, and most recently a beautiful soft pink for me over the years. The salon is small, making the experience feel more luxurious, comfortable and intimate than any other trip to the salon. The outcome was amazing! We chopped a LOT and Taylor left me feeling like I’d made a new friend. Suffice it to say the service was fantastic and the experience incredibly charming. I have very wavy but frizzy color treated hair that needed a good taming. The keratin treatment did just that. My waves are now perfect and sleek and I can clip in my hair extensions after my hair has air dried without any more effort bc the texture of my hair matches the extensions perfectly. However I grew up in west Africa and this salon is run in a way that makes me feel warm and at home. I just think American culture prioritizes break neck speed and efficiency. For me going to good hair is like going to a spa. It’s ultimately so relaxing. And the quality is top tier.

Yvonne Ontiveros: I went to this salon based on a friend’s recommendation. Her stylist wasn’t available but Lorenzo was so I booked based on other positive reviews. I got a cut and partial foil. I love my hair and how it turned out. The biggest surprise by this visit was the expensive bill at the end. I have lived all over the world and have never paid this high of a price. Out of shock and character for me, I asked him to break down the cost. He charged $130 for a haircut and $195 for partial highlights. With tip I walked out nearly $400 out of my pocket. I don’t have especially long hair or anything to justify this exorbitant price. It felt like there had to be a mistake. The only advice I can give before booking with this salon is call ahead to see what kind of bill you might end up with.

Lynne O'Brien: I have been going to Red Chair since they opened, and have been going to owner/stylist, Amy, even longer. She listens to my vision and makes it work for my hair. She suggests products that actually work for my hair. Speaking of products, Red Chair has their own line of products and the H2O shampoo and conditioner keeps my hair healthy, shiny, and smells like a creamsicle. The shop has a fun vibe and every other stylist or front desk person has been friendly and welcoming even when they are insanely busy. Sometimes, if you're lucky, you can get a walk-in appointment, but you may have to plan ahead to schedule a few appointments with your favorite stylist.

I've lived in Seattle for about a decade and have gone to a dozen different salons in the city. I'm half asian, so I have very straight thick black hair and finding someone who can cut straight hair for a guy can be difficult. In terms of atmosphere, BANG feels very open and welcoming, not pretentious or tense which is the vibe I get at other hair salons and barbershops. I've only been with Johnny so my review is based on my experience with him. I work in a science-related field, so I'm a very math oriented person. I described to Johnny the type of haircut I wanted, showed him some photos and he adapted the same style for the shape of my head, my texture and thickness of hair, and then he explained the geometry of how he planned to cut my hair, how it would lay in order to replicate the same look in the photos I shared. I love her, she's the best, and her ability to cut my baby fine silky hair and make it have volume and texture is literally magic. She's super kind, always asks how I'm doing and legit wants to hear my answer. She's perfected my pixie cut by listening to me talk about parts I like, parts I want to change, and offers up suggestions for new things to try without being pushy when it's out of my comfort zone.I book in advance on schedulicity because her appointments fill up about a month out, but I've also called and booked over the phone.Their staff is kind, and I feel like I could get my hair cut by anyone there and have a good experience. Cute vibe, fairly easy to park, and one of the stylists has an adorable aussie doodle that will almost always come greet you and sit next to you on the couch for pets and love. Sarah Barak: It took me a couple of times to find the right stylist for me at Coven, but I'm glad I stuck it out and found Lydia. She has made substantive improvements to my cut and color, and is honestly the only stylist who has been able to teach me how to style my hair at home.Heads up that if you are disabled, as I am, this salon can be a significant challenge. There is no parking lot and parking is sparse near the salon right now due to serious construction that has lasted for a long time. There are also multiple stairs to enter the building and no ramp. However, if you can manage, once you're in, the salon really is gorgeous.Specialties: This salon specializes in cutting curly hair.Hair type: I have fine, curly hair.

Sally Bowie: haircut was with Danielle. I never book an appointment right after a cut. I want to wait and see how it behaves, how it grows out, etc. I swear, and I am being totally honest, that was the best haircut I had ever had. I have returned to Bowie Salon ever since. The salon is immaculate, peaceful, professional and WARM. I have found my new hair home. Lisa: This review is long overdue. I’ve been seeing Stacie for years and have never loved my hair more! Sracie has helped me manage my grays while keeping my natural dark brown. They’ve called me to ask if it’s okay to cancel appointments I’ve made that they thought were premature and I trust them wholeheartedly. Stacie cuts my husband’s hair too and truly it’s never looked better. My daughter sees Shoka for cuts and color and loves her! My son sees Suki for cuts and loves her!
